Department of Archaeology

The heritage of Pakistan is untapped source of tourism and employment. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has established the Department of Archaeology in 2021 to explore the rich Archaeological heritage of Pakistan with special emphasis on Bahawalpur region. The department is well equipped to conduct research in the field of Archaeology. Highly qualified and trained faculty provides the guidance to the students in their research activities. The department of Archaeology has developed educational and professional excellence through the courses offered, collaborative research projects and professional interaction with universities around the globe. The recently established Culture and Heritage Research Center is also working in close collaboration with the Department of Archaeology. Therefore, a research journal on “Culture and Heritage Studies” and magazine “Hakra” has been developed to promote the research culture at national and international level.
