Department of Agriculture Extension Education

Department of Agriculture Extension Education was established in the year 2021 under the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment (FA&E). At present, we are offering BSc (Hons) Agriculture with specialization in Agriculture Extension Education and MSc (Hons) in Agricultural Extension. The major goal of the Department of Agriculture Extension Education is to prepare the young agricultural graduates who can educate the diversified farming communities about the latest agricultural technologies/innovations, indicate the bottlenecks in the adoption process and finding their solutions. Moreover, this department is determined to bridge up the gap between research institutions and local farming communities across the country. In order to prepare students to take on challenging problems in rural development, we offer a demanding curriculum that combines theory and real-world experience. Our curriculum has a strong emphasis on community outreach, global participation and entrepreneurship. It also encourages students to collaborate internationally, develop an entrepreneurial attitude and interact with local stakeholders. We make sure that our graduates continue to be lifelong learners and engaged participants in the growth of agricultural extension and sustainable rural development through ongoing improvement and alumni engagement programs.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Agricultural Extension Education is to educate and train students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in agriculture extension and rural development while promoting participatory and inclusive extension approaches for sustainable farming systems. The department is committed to conducting applied and policy-relevant research that addresses contemporary agricultural challenges and to strengthening linkages between research, academia and farming communities through effective outreach and capacity-building programs. Ultimately, it aims to contribute meaningfully to food security, climate resilience and socio-economic development at national and regional levels.
