About Us

The Department of Urdu & Iqbaliat, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar Campus, was established in 2013 with the M.A. Urdu & Iqbaliat programme. Today, the Department offers ADP Urdu & Iqbaliat (2 years), BS Urdu & Iqbaliat (4 years), and M.Phil. Urdu & Iqbaliat (2 years).

With a dedicated faculty of five Ph.D. Faculty members, the Department provides a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment for learning, research, creativity, and communication. Our teaching approach combines practical language skills, creative writing, critical thinking, interactive sessions, literary discussions, and seminars.

Our alumni are successfully contributing to education, teaching, administration, business, and other professional fields.

The department's mission focuses on preserving and advancing the Urdu language, literature, and Iqbaliat. It provides opportunities for students to pursue advanced education and develop skills for societal and economic development. The mission also emphasizes fostering a rich literary culture by combining core academic requirements with co-curricular activities like literary programmes, critical analysis of classical and contemporary texts, and interactive seminar.
