About Us
The Department of Biotechnology at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (Bahawalnagar Campus) was established in 2020. The Department is committed to delivering high-quality education and practical training that offers new avenues to be explored for the betterment of humanity. Biotechnology is an innovative, interdisciplinary science that harnesses cellular and biomolecular processes to develop technologies and products for healthcare, agriculture, food security, and environmental sustainability. Driven by breakthroughs in recombinant DNA technology, genome editing, and synthetic biology, it empowers students to translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions for real-world challenges.
The Department is currently offering BS Biotechnology (4 Years) and ADP Biotechnology (2 Years) programs. Our academic framework strictly adheres to HEC standards and is delivered via a dynamic semester system. It integrates core theoretical foundations with extensive hands-on laboratory training, elective specializations, and mandatory research projects and industrial internships to ensure career readiness. This comprehensive training opens diverse career pathways for our graduates in academia, the biopharmaceutical and food industries, diagnostic laboratories, and national and international research institutions.
