The spokesperson of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that on Saturday, a private channel’s program aired a story about a harassment case involving a visiting faculty member of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. A person named Ahmed Mahmood is not a regular or contract teacher of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, this person was a visiting faculty member. After the incident was reported by the private channel on June 23, 2025, immediate action was taken by the Vice Chancellor. The private channel’s representative was fully heard by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran and the Director, Center for Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti. At that time, it came to light that no such application or complaint was filed or reported to the university by the affected student. The Vice Chancellor immediately ordered an investigation into the entire matter and at the same time, instructions were issued that the said visiting faculty be expelled and his entry into the campus was prohibited. It is worth mentioning that on the orders of the Vice Chancellor, a notification was issued on May 12, 2025, in which all the rules and regulations were directed to be followed for the appointment of visiting faculty. Under this order, the appointment of visiting faculty can be done only with the approval of the Vice Chancellor after a thorough investigation. After the inquiry, it was found that no written application was filed against the visiting faculty Ahmed Mahmood, however, the affected student had verbally informed the Incharge Students Affairs Tayyaba Rashid a week before the final examination, who referred her to the Chairman of the Department, Dr. Muhammad Saad Malik. It is clear that the said student and other students had requested a reduction in the syllabus, fearing unfair grading, and had not mentioned any harassment. The Chairman of the Department, Dr. Muhammad Saad Malik, called for a transparent investigation into the allegations of unfair grading. The inquiry of the Anti-Harassment Committee revealed that the visiting faculty member, Ahmed Mahmood, abused his position and demanded sexual interaction from the student in exchange for changing the marking. The investigation by the Anti-Harassment Committee proved that the visiting faculty member violated the zero tolerance policy on harassment of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and tried to change the examination grading. The Anti-Harassment Committee decided that the visiting faculty member, Ahmed Mahmood, should be completely banned from entering all campuses of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and should not be given any kind of employment in the future. The committee also decided that the student should be counseled at the Enabling Center so that she can recover psychologically from this matter. Similarly, it was decided to re-conduct the examination of all the students of this class in the English subject. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur fully implements and believes in the zero tolerance policy implemented by the Higher Education Commission, and even when the above complaint came to light, a clear decision was taken by following all the laws and in the future it is also clearly committed to zero tolerance for any kind of harassment so that students can get the best education with mental freedom.

بہاولپور (پ ر) ترجمان اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے کہا ہے کہ ہفتے کے روز نجی چینل کے پروگرام میں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے ایک وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی ممبر کے حوالے سے ہراسگی کیس کی سٹوری چلائی گئی۔ احمد محمود نامی شخص اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کا ریگولر یا کنٹریکٹ استاد نہیں ہے، یہ شخص وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی ممبر تھا۔ نجی چینل کی جانب سے 23 جون 2025 کو  واقعہ رپورٹ ہونے کے بعد وائس چانسلر کی جانب سے فوری ایکشن لیا گیا تھا۔ نجی چینل کے نمائندے کو یونیورسٹی بلاکر وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران اور چیئرپرسن یونیورسٹی سینٹر برائے اینٹی ہراسمنٹ اینڈ ڈسکریمینیشن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے مکمل طور پر سنا تھا۔ اسوقت یہ بات سامنے آئی کہ یونیورسٹی کے پاس ایسی کوئی درخواست یا شکایت متاثرہ طالبہ کی طرف درج یا رپورٹ نہیں کرائی گئی۔ وائس چانسلر نے فوری طور پر اس تمام معاملے کی تحقیقات کا حکم دیا اور ساتھ ہی یہ ہدایت جاری کی گئی کہ مذکورہ وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی کو بیدخل کیا جائے اور اسکا کیمپس میں داخلہ ممنوع قرار دے دیا گیا۔ یہ بات قابل ذکر ہے کہ وائس چانسلر کے حکم پر 12 مئی 2025 کو ایک نوٹیفیکیشن جاری کیا گیا تھا جس میں وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی کی تعیناتی کے لیے تمام تر قواعد و ضوابط پورے کرنے کی ہدایت جاری کی گئی تھی۔ اس حکم نامے کے تحت وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی کی تعیناتی آئندہ مکمل چھان بین کے بعد وائس چانسلر کی منظوری سے ہی ہوسکتی ہے۔ انکوائری کے بعد معلوم ہوا کہ وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی احمد محمود کے خلاف کوئی تحریری درخواست دائر نہیں کی گئی تاہم متاثرہ طالبہ نے فائنل امتحان سے ایک ہفتہ قبل انچارج اسٹوڈنٹس افیئر طیبہ رشید کو زبانی آگاہ کیا تھا جنہوں نے انہیں چیئرمین شعبہ ڈاکٹر محمد سعد ملک کی جانب ریفر کر دیا تھا۔ یہ بات واضح ہے کہ مذکورہ طالبہ اور دیگر دوسرے طلباوطالبات نے غیر منصفانہ گریڈنگ کا خدشہ ظاہر کرتے ہوئے سلیبس میں کمی کی درخواست کی تھی اور ہراسمنٹ کا کوئی ذکر نہیں کیا تھا۔ چیئرمین شعبہ ڈاکٹر محمد سعد ملک نے غیر منصفانہ گریڈنگ کے خدشے کی شفاف تحقیق کا کہا تھا۔ اینٹی ہراسگی کمیٹی کی انکوائری میں معلوم ہوا کہ مذکورہ وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی احمد محمود کی جانب سے اپنی پوزیشن کا غلط استعمال کرتے ہوئے مذکورہ طالبہ سے مارکنگ میں ردوبدل کے بدلے جنسی تعلق کا مطالبہ کیا تھا۔ اینٹی ہراسمنٹ کمیٹی کی جانب سے تحقیقات میں یہ بات ثابت ہوئی کہ وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی ممبر نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی ہراسمنٹ پر زیرو ٹالرینس پالیسی کے خلاف مرتکب ہوئے اور امتحانی گریڈنگ کو تبدیل کرنے کی کوشش کی۔ اینٹی ہراسمنٹ کمیٹی نے فیصلہ کیا کہ وزیٹنگ فیکلٹی احمد محمود کا اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے تمام کیمپسز میں داخلے پر مکمل پابندی عائد کی جائے اور مستقبل میں کسی بھی طرح کی ملازمت نہ دی جائے۔ کمیٹی نے یہ فیصلہ بھی کیا کہ مذکورہ طالبہ کی انیبلنگ سنٹر میں کونسلنگ کی جائے تاکہ وہ نفسیاتی طور پر اس معاملے سے صحت یاب ہو سکے۔ اسی طرح انگریزی مضمون میں اس کلاس کے تمام طلباو طالبات کا امتحان دوبارہ منعقد کرانے کا فیصلہ کیا گیا۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کی طرف سے نافذ کردہ زیرو ٹالرینس پالیسی پر مکمل طور پر عمل درآمد اور عملی یقین رکھتی ہے اور مذکورہ شکایت کے سامنے آنے پر بھی تمام قوانین پر عمل کرتے ہوئے واضح فیصلہ کیا گیا اور آئندہ بھی واضح طور پر کسی بھی قسم کی ہراسگی پر زیرو ٹالرینس کا عزم رکھتی ہے تاکہ طالب علم ذہنی آزادی کے ساتھ بہترین تعلیم حاصل کرسکیں۔
