Inauguration of Fruit and Ornamental Plant Nursery at Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur

The Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob inaugurated Nursery of Fruits and Ornamental Plants at Department of Horticultural Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental. Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental, Prof. Dr. Irshad Hussain, Dean Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naveed, Chairman, Department of Plant Pathology were also present on the occasion. The Vice Chancellor also visited orchard areas and appreciated the efforts for successful growth of guava, dates, peach, pear, lychee, citrus and mango orchards. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nafees, Chairman, Department of Horticultural Sciences along with faculty members briefed about the production of horticultural plants at nursery. Nursery is registered with the Federal Seed Certification and Registration Department, Government of Pakistan. Mr. Muhammad Shahid Mumtaz, Deputy Director, Federal Seed Certification and Registration Department presented certification letter to Vice Chancellor. The Department of Horticulture is producing disease free, true to type and certified plants of mango, citrus, guava, pomegranate, grapes, fig, Olive, Pear and various other fruit and ornamental plants. These plants are available for sale to farmers. Farmers interested in purchasing true to type, disease free and certified plants can contact the Department of Horticulture, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for further information.

 انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلراسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے شعبہ ہارٹیکلچر سائنسز، فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹل میں پھلوں اور آرائشی پودوں کی نرسری کا افتتاح کیا۔ اس موقع پر ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹل پروفیسر ڈاکٹر معظم جمیل، ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایجوکیشن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ارشاد حسین، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نوید چیئرمین شعبہ پلانٹ پیتھالوجی بھی موجود تھے۔ معزز مہمانوں نے باغات کا بھی دورہ کیا اور امرود، کھجور، آڑو، ناشپاتی، لیچی، لیموں اور آم کے باغات کی کامیاب افزائش کے لیے کوششوں کو سراہا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نفیس، چیئرمین، شعبہ ہارٹیکلچر سائنسز اور فیکلٹی ممبران نے معزز مہمانوں کا استقبال کیا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نفیس نے نرسری میں باغبانی کے پودوں کی پیداوار کے بارے میں بریفنگ دی۔ نرسری وفاقی سیڈ سرٹیفیکیشن اینڈ رجسٹریشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ، حکومت پاکستان کے ساتھ رجسٹرڈ ہے۔ وفاقی سیڈ سرٹیفیکیشن اینڈ رجسٹریشن ڈیپارٹمنٹ کے ڈپٹی ڈائریکٹر محمد شاہد ممتاز نے وائس چانسلر کو سرٹیفیکیشن لیٹر پیش کیا۔ شعبہ ہارٹیکلچر آم، لیموں، امرود، انار، انگور، انجیر، زیتون، ناشپاتی اور دیگر مختلف پھلوں اور سجاوٹی پودوں کے بیماریوں سے پاک اقسام کے درست اور تصدیق شدہ پودے تیار کر رہا ہے۔ یہ پودے کسانوں کے لیے فروخت کے لیے دستیاب ہیں۔ صحیح قسم کے، بیماری سے پاک اور تصدیق شدہ پودے خریدنے میں دلچسپی رکھنے والے کسان مزید معلومات کے لیے شعبہ ہارٹیکلچر، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پورسے رابطہ کر سکتے ہیں۔
