Celebrating 1st year Marka-e-Haq Bunyan un Marsoos: Seminar on "Media Ethics as a Shield Against Disinformation"

As Pakistan commemorates Marka-e-Haq, IUB is proud to organize a series of events, including a seminar on "Media Ethics as a Shield Against Disinformation" organized by IUB Digital and Social Media Society, in collaboration with the Law Students' Society.

Our esteemed guests, including Mr. Baqa Ul Mohsin, Bureau Chief, Discover Pakistan, Dr. Jam Sajjad Hussain, Advisor, IUB Digital and Social Media Society, Dr. Hasan Sial, DDSA Faculty of Law, and Mr. Mian Arif Saeed, ISA Department of Law, shared their valuable insights on the importance of media ethics and the responsible use of social media.

Mr. Baqa Ul Mohsin highlighted how media ethics contribute to the development of a society, and that nations that adhere to truth and transparency are the ones that succeed.

Dr. Jam Sajjad Hussain emphasized the need to avoid disinformation and promote fact-based journalism, citing the example of the 2025 war between Pakistan and India, referred to as the "War of Truth" by Pakistan, where the war was fought on the basis of information and misinformation, and Pakistan emerged victorious due to its commitment to truth.

Dr. Hasan Sial noted that law and journalism are intertwined, and that disinformation can be tackled through effective legislation and institutional support.

The event was hosted by Syed Jahanzeb Shah, President, IUB Digital and Social Media Society, and was attended by students, scholars, and faculty members from the Law Department.

We appreciate the tireless efforts of the office bearers of IUB Digital and Social Media Society, who worked diligently to make this event a success. Certificates and shields were presented to the participants and guests in appreciation of their contributions.
