Profile Summary

Dr. Waseem Akhtar Qureshi has been working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur since 2021. Before joining this department he had served as an Assistant Professor for more than two years in the department of Forestry, Range and Wildlife Management, IUB. He did MSc in Botany from BZU, and PhD degree in Nanoscience and Technology from University of Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing China. During PhD, he had developed the biocompatible polymeric nanoparticles and observed their effects in biological models. Herein, at Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies, he has developed a nanotechnology based research group namely "Desert Nanotechnology", for the betterment of Cholistan deserts rangelands. In this group, he is supervising and the M.Phil./MS and PhDs students from different department such as Botany, and Forestry. His research group is working for the synthesis of nanoparticles from different materials including from Cholistan desert plants and applying them in different biological models especially for enhancing the growth of plants under desert environment. Thus, these nanoparticles can be used for conserving the endangered plants species. Moreover, he is also including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in his researches. He always welcome researchers from different fields like Botany, Physics, Chemistry, and Agriculture sciences to collaborate with him.
