About Me
I am Dr. Muhammad Awais Yousaf, an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), Pakistan. I received my PhD in Mathematics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, where my research focused on algebraic and combinatorial structures, particularly finite homomorphic images of groups.
My research interests lie at the intersection of combinatorial group theory and modern cryptography. I actively work on algebraic cryptography, group-theoretic constructions of substitution boxes (S-boxes), digital signatures, image encryption, and secure communication protocols. A significant part of my work investigates how finite groups, group actions, coset diagrams, and algebraic structures can be employed to design cryptographically strong and computationally efficient security primitives.
I have published extensively in leading international journals, including IEEE Access, Scientific Reports, Symmetry, Multimedia Tools and Applications, Wireless Personal Communications, and others. My recent research also extends to post-quantum cryptography, chaotic encryption schemes, and medical image security.
In addition to academic research, I am interested in the dissemination of technical knowledge beyond formal publications, particularly where mathematical modeling, optimization, and algorithmic thinking intersect with real-world systems. As part of this broader educational outreach, I maintain an independent resource (https://growwithhydroponics.com) that focuses on structured, data-informed approaches to controlled-environment and sustainability-related technologies.
Alongside research, I am actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Algebra, Linear Algebra, Calculus, Algebraic Cryptography, and Group Algorithm Programming. I have supervised multiple PhD and MPhil theses in mathematics, cryptography, and applied algebra.
I have also served as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Birmingham, UK, collaborating on problems in combinatorial group theory. My goal is to contribute to the development of secure, mathematically rigorous cryptographic systems and to mentor students in advanced mathematical research and applications.
