Profile Summary

Over the past 15 years, my career journey has been characterized by a steadfast commitment to excellence and innovation in various domains. As an Assistant Professor at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan, I honed my expertise in agricultural extension, driven by a passion for research and academic development. A pivotal moment in my academic trajectory was marked by a fully funded scholarship under the prestigious Faculty Development Program, which enabled me to conduct groundbreaking research at the University of Reading, UK. This experience deepened my understanding of agricultural practices and emphasized the crucial role of extension services in enhancing small-scale farmers' productivity. Transitioning to student affairs, I assumed the role of In-charge of Student Affairs, where I dedicated myself to fostering a vibrant campus community and promoting holistic student development. Additionally, my consultancy work with a reputable private company focused on the rehabilitation and development of 2000 acres of land in the Cholistan Desert, with a strong emphasis on regenerative agriculture practices. Concurrently, as a member of the Board of Directors at KWS (Kathore Welfare Society), I played a pivotal role in spearheading transformative initiatives aimed at improving village infrastructure and promoting sustainable development. These diverse experiences underscore my commitment to effecting positive change and fostering long-term sustainability in rural communities.

Projects

Efficiency of small scale farmers in Pakistan’s Punjab and the role of extension services in its improvement

2011-09 - 2018-01

Associated With: Fully funded scholaeship awarded to complete independent PhD project

Show project

The Islamia University of Bahwalpur has awarded a fully funded PhD Scholarship for research conducted in the United Kingdom(University of Reading). The study focuses on addressing Pakistan's food security challenges by enhancing the efficiency of its farming systems, particularly small farms, which face resource constraints and often fail to benefit from government policies. Utilizing Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with bootstrapping, the research examines technical, scale, allocative, and cost efficiencies of small farms in Pakistan's mixed farming system. Findings reveal significant inefficiencies, particularly in resource allocation. Determinants of efficiency include extension services, training participation, household size, and farm size. Recommendations include subsidized tractor access and improved extension services to enhance efficiency and promote agricultural innovation and productivity.

A project with Kathore Welfare Society "Change a village, change the world"

2020-03 - 2024-05

Associated With: Rural Developmet, zero waste managment, digitilization of village, Technical education, empowerment

Show project

As a member of the Board of Directors at KWS (Kathore Welfare Society), I played a pivotal role in orchestrating the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the transformative "Change a Village, Change the World" project. Under my supervision and alongside the dedicated team, we fostered the establishment of a Youth Club within the community, which spearheaded initiatives focused on sanitation, waste management, and overall village improvement. Through our concerted efforts, we successfully implemented an efficient waste management system, installed a cutting-edge RO water plant, and established a Healthcare Centre offering vital medical services free of charge. Additionally, we championed the creation of sports grounds, a Ladies Park, and the planting of 3000 trees to address environmental concerns. The recent construction of a Community Centre further underscores our commitment to fostering social cohesion and sustainable development in rural areas by empowering people through technical education. This project exemplifies the profound impact of collective action and community engagement in effecting positive and enduring change.
