Academic webinar in connection with Kashmir Siege Day.

Kashmir and Nazriya e Pakistan Society Directorate of Students Affairs the Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized an academic webinar on the Indian initiative of August 5, 2019 and the constitutional and legal status of the Kashmir issue in connection with Kashmir Siege Day. In it, the speakers called the abrogation of the special constitutional status of occupied Jammu Kashmir on August 5, 2019 illegal, unconstitutional and contrary to the resolutions of the United Nations and demanded that the international community take notice of it. The webinar was chaired by Professor Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, while Dr. Naveen Javed performed the duties of the moderator. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan Tahir, Advisor, Kashmir and Nazriya e Pakistan Society, while delivering the welcome address, said that the Indian initiative of August 5, 2019 was not only against the aspirations of the Kashmiri people but also tried to unilaterally change the controversial status of the Kashmir issue. He said that the Kashmiri people should be given the right to self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions. Addressing the webinar, Professor Dr. Khawaja Zahid Aziz said that the Kashmir issue is not just a territorial dispute but an issue of history, identity, culture and political rights. He said that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by India cannot end the disputed status of Kashmir and the struggle of the Kashmiri people will continue. Professor Rana Ijaz Hussain said in his address that India’s move of August 5, 2019 is against international law, human rights and the spirit of the UN Security Council resolutions. He said that the international community, human rights organizations and legal institutions should take serious notice of the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and take practical steps to protect the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. Engineer Inayat Ali said that Kashmir is an important part of the history, civilization and intellectual heritage of the subcontinent. He urged the younger generation to study the history, freedom movement and ideological background of Kashmir in depth so that this issue can be presented to the world in an effective manner on academic and research basis. The speakers agreed that the move of August 5, 2019 has proven to be detrimental to peace and stability in the region and has affected the political, constitutional and human rights of the Kashmiri people. They called on the international community to play an effective role for a just solution to the Kashmir issue and to take practical steps to ensure the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination. In her closing remarks, the President of the session, Professor Dr. Rubina Bhatti, thanked the speakers and said that universities should continue to play their role in research, dialogue and promotion of awareness on important national and international issues like the Kashmir issue. He said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur will continue its academic efforts to create awareness among the youth about the historical, political and legal aspects of Kashmir. At the end of the webinar, the speakers and participants reiterated their support for the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people and expressed solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir. On this occasion, essay writing and Urdu debate competitions were organized under the supervision of Dr. Zeshan Tabassum, Advisor of IUB Literary and Debating Society, Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu. In the essay writing competition, Muneeb-ur-Rehman won first position, Wadood Aslam won second position and Muhammad Ahmed won third position. While in the Urdu debate competition, Hamadullah won first position, Muzammil Saleem won second position and Shah Faisal won third position.

کشمیر اینڈ نظریہ پاکستان سوسائٹی ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف سٹوڈنٹس افیئرز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے زیرِ اہتمام یومِ استحصالِ کشمیر کے سلسلے میں پانچ اگست 2019 کا بھارتی اقدام اور مسئلہ کشمیر کی آئینی و قانونی حیثیت کے موضوع پر ایک علمی ویبینار منعقد ہوا جس میں مقررین نے پانچ اگست 2019 کو مقبوضہ جموں و کشمیر کی خصوصی آئینی حیثیت کے خاتمے کو غیر قانونی غیر آئینی اور اقوامِ متحدہ کی قراردادوں کے منافی قرار دیتے ہوئے عالمی برادری سے اس کا نوٹس لینے کا مطالبہ کیا۔ ویبینار کی صدارت پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے کی جبکہ ڈاکٹر نوین جاوید نے نظامت کے فرائض انجام دیے۔ ڈاکٹر محمد رمضان طاہر ایڈوائزر کشمیر اینڈ نظریۂ پاکستان سوسائٹی نے خطبہ استقبالیہ پیش کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پانچ اگست 2019ء کا بھارتی اقدام نہ صرف کشمیری عوام کی امنگوں کے خلاف تھا بلکہ اس نے مسئلہ کشمیر کی متنازع حیثیت کو یکطرفہ طور پر تبدیل کرنے کی کوشش کی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کشمیری عوام کو اقوامِ متحدہ کی قراردادوں کے مطابق حقِ خودارادیت دیا جانا چاہیے۔ ویبینار سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر خواجہ زاہد عزیز نے کہا کہ مسئلہ کشمیر محض ایک علاقائی تنازع نہیں بلکہ تاریخ، شناخت، ثقافت اور سیاسی حقوق کا مسئلہ ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بھارت کی جانب سے آرٹیکل 370 اور 35A کی تنسیخ سے کشمیر کی متنازع حیثیت ختم نہیں ہوسکتی اور کشمیری عوام کی جدوجہد جاری رہے گی۔ پروفیسر رانا اعجاز حسین نے اپنے خطاب میں کہا کہ بھارت کا پانچ اگست 2019ء کا اقدام بین الاقوامی قانون، انسانی حقوق اور اقوامِ متحدہ کی سلامتی کونسل کی قراردادوں کی روح کے منافی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ عالمی برادری، انسانی حقوق کی تنظیموں اور قانونی اداروں کو مقبوضہ کشمیر میں انسانی حقوق کی خلاف ورزیوں کا سنجیدگی سے نوٹس لینا چاہیے اور کشمیری عوام کے بنیادی حقوق کے تحفظ کے لیے عملی اقدامات کرنے چاہییں۔ انجینئر عنایت علی نے کہا کہ کشمیر برصغیر کی تاریخ، تہذیب اور فکری ورثے کا اہم حصہ ہے۔ انہوں نے نوجوان نسل پر زور دیا کہ وہ کشمیر کی تاریخ، تحریکِ آزادی اور نظریاتی پس منظر کا گہرا مطالعہ کریں تاکہ اس مسئلے کو علمی اور تحقیقی بنیادوں پر دنیا کے سامنے مؤثر انداز میں پیش کیا جاسکے۔ مقررین نے اس امر پر اتفاق کیا کہ پانچ اگست 2019ء کا اقدام خطے میں امن اور استحکام کے لیے نقصان دہ ثابت ہوا ہے اور اس سے کشمیری عوام کے سیاسی آئینی اور انسانی حقوق متاثر ہوئے ہیں۔ انہوں نے عالمی برادری سے مطالبہ کیا کہ مسئلہ کشمیر کے منصفانہ حل کے لیے مؤثر کردار ادا کیا جائے اور کشمیری عوام کو ان کا حقِ خودارادیت دلانے کے لیے عملی اقدامات کیے جائیں۔ صدرِ اجلاس پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے اپنے اختتامی کلمات میں مقررین کا شکریہ ادا کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ جامعات کو مسئلہ کشمیر جیسے اہم قومی اور بین الاقوامی موضوعات پر تحقیق، مکالمے اور آگاہی کے فروغ میں اپنا کردار ادا کرتے رہنا چاہیے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نوجوانوں میں کشمیر کے تاریخی، سیاسی اور قانونی پہلوؤں سے متعلق شعور اجاگر کرنے کے لیے اپنی علمی کاوشیں جاری رکھے گی۔ ویبینار کے اختتام پر مقررین اور شرکاء نے کشمیری عوام کے حقِ خودارادیت کی حمایت کا اعادہ کرتے ہوئے مقبوضہ کشمیر کے عوام کے ساتھ یکجہتی کا اظہار کیا۔ اسی موقع کی مناسبت سے آئی یو بی لٹریری اینڈ ڈیبیٹنگ سوسائٹی کے ایڈوائزر ڈاکٹر ذیشان تبسم اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر شعبہ اردو کی زیر نگرانی مضمون نویسی اور اردو مباحثے کے مقالے کے مقابلے منعقد ہوئے۔ مضمون نویسی کے مقابلے میں منیب الرحمن نے پہلی، ودود اسلم نے دوسری اور محمد احمد نے تیسری پوزیشن حاصل کی۔ جبکہ اردو مباحثے کے مقابلے میں حماد اللہ نے پہلی، مزمل سلیم نے دوسری اور شاہ فیصل نے تیسری پوزیشن حاصل کی۔
