A meeting on "Provisions of Clean Drinking Water in South Punjab" was organized by SDGs Collaboration Centre the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in association with Punjab Aab e Pak Authority. Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhter, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur chaired the meeting, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Patron of the SDGsCC the Islamia University of Bahawalpur preceded it. Engineer Aamir Khaleed, Director of the Aab e Pak Authority gave a briefing about clean drinking water plants that are being provided by this organization in Southern Punjab as well as the region's sweat water supplies. Both organizations agreed to start collaborative work on the Cholistan Desert's water resources with the help of the Institute of Cholistan Desert by research and expertise sharing. The utilization of advanced and reputable water testing facilities of the Institute of Soil Sciences and Water Resources the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to test the water at commercial prices will be made available in future.  Moreover, paid internship opportunities will be provided to students who are conducting research on environmental and water projects. A briefing on the latest advances in technology used in laboratories for water testing was given by Prof. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmad, Director of the Institute of Soil and Water Resources. Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Director Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies gave an overview of the initiatives in the desert region and the state of the sweat water there. Dr. Abid Rashid Gill, Director of the Green Campus Project, discussed efforts to reduce sweat water waste in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Environment Policy. Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhter, Vice Chancellor appreciated the provision of clean drinking water, and vowed that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur will collaborate with Punjab Aab e Pak Authority  for water resource research which would help to increase sustainability of water in South Punjab. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti stressed upon the need of academia and industry linkages and coordination with different organizations for achieving sustainable development goals. Awareness sessions at schools, colleges and community can play vital role in conservation and reducing waste of sweet drinking water, she said. It was pledged to organize further collaborative activities on forum of SDGs Collaboration Centre, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in the future. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Salman Bin Naeem Director of the SDGsCC, Prof. Dr. Samar Fahad, Director Enabling Centre, Dr. Azhar Hussain Associate Professor Water Management, Dr. Ali Azam, Associate Professor Economics, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nafees Chairman and Dr. Rashid Shaheen Associate Professor Department of Horticulture Sciences. In order to demonstrate the practical work on water and the Cholistan Desert, Dr. Mariam Abbas Soharwardi, Additional Director SDGsCC, organized a visit for the team of the Punjab Aab e Pak Authority to the Institute of Soil Science & Water Resources and the Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies.

ایس ڈی جیز کولیبریشن سنٹر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی آف بہاولپور اور پنجاب آب پاک اتھارٹی کے اشتراک سے جنوبی پنجاب میں پینے کے صاف پانی کی فراہمی کے موضوع کے لیے اقدامات کریں گے۔ اس سلسلے میں وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر کی زیر صدارت اجلاس میں پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی، ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز اور SDGsCC کی سرپرست اور پنجاب آب پاک اتھارٹی کے ڈائریکٹر انجینئر عامر خالد نے پینے کے صاف پانی کے پلانٹس کے بارے میں بریفنگ دی۔ دونوں اداروں نے انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف چولستان ڈیزٹ کی مدد سے صحرائے چولستان کے آبی وسائل پر تحقیق اور مہارت کے تبادلے کے ذریعے مشترکہ کام شروع کرنے پر اتفاق کیا۔ انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف سوائل سائنسز اینڈ واٹر ریسورسز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی جدید اور معروف واٹر ٹیسٹنگ سہولیات کا استعمال مستقبل میں کمرشل بنیادوں پر پانی کی جانچ کے لیے کیا جائے گا۔ مزید برآں ماحولیاتی اور پانی کے منصوبوں پر تحقیق کرنے والے طلباء کو بامعاوضہ انٹرن شپ کے مواقع فراہم کیے جائیں گے۔ انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف سوائل اینڈ واٹر ریسورسز کے ڈائریکٹر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مکشوف احمد نے پانی کی جانچ کے لیے لیبارٹریوں میں استعمال ہونے والی ٹیکنالوجی کی جدید ترین ترقی کے بارے میں بریفنگ دی۔ ڈاکٹر محمد عبداللہ ڈائریکٹر چولستان انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ڈیزٹ اسٹڈیز نے صحرائی علاقے میں اقدامات اور وہاں کے پینے کے پانی کے بارے میں آگاہ کیا۔ گرین کیمپس پروجیکٹ کے ڈائریکٹر ڈاکٹر عابد رشید گل نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں پینے کے پانی کے ضیاع کو کم کرنے کی کوششوں اور ماحولیات کی پالیسی پر تبادلہ خیال کیا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اختر وائس چانسلر نے پینے کے صاف پانی کی فراہمی کو سراہا اور اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور، پنجاب آب پاک اتھارٹی کے ساتھ آبی وسائل کی تحقیق کے لیے تعاون کرے گی جس سے جنوبی پنجاب میں پانی کی پائیداری کو بڑھانے میں مدد ملے گی۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے پائیدار ترقی کے اہداف کے حصول کے لیے اکیڈمیا اور انڈسٹری کے روابط اور مختلف تنظیموں کے ساتھ ہم آہنگی کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اسکولوں، کالجوں اور کمیونٹی میں بیداری کے سیشن پینے کے میٹھے پانی کے تحفظ اور ضیاع کو کم کرنے میں اہم کردار ادا کر سکتے ہیں۔ مستقبل میں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے ایس ڈی جیز کولابریشن سنٹر کے فورم پر مزید اشتراکی سرگرمیاں منعقد کرنے کا عہد کیا گیا۔ اجلاس میں SDGsCC کے ڈائریکٹر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سلمان بن نعیم، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ثمر فہد ڈائریکٹر انیبلنگ سنٹر، ڈاکٹر اظہر حسین ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر واٹر مینجمنٹ، ڈاکٹر علی اعظم، ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر اکنامکس، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر ثمر فہد، محمد نفیس چیئرمین اور ڈاکٹر راشد شاہین ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف ہارٹیکلچر سائنسز نے شرکت کی۔ پانی اور صحرائے چولستان پر عملی کام کو دکھانے کے لیے ڈاکٹر مریم عباس سہروردی، ایڈیشنل ڈائریکٹر SDGsCC نے پنجاب آب پاک اتھارٹی کی ٹیم کے ہمراہ انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف سوائل سائنس اینڈ واٹر ریسورسز اور چولستان انسٹی ٹیوٹ کا دورہ کیا۔
