About Us

Established in 2000, the Department of Applied Psychology at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is among the pioneering centres of psychology education in Southern Punjab. The department provides education from undergraduate to postgraduate levels and integrates theoretical knowledge with supervised practice, research, psychological assessment, and community engagement. Its Psychological Testing Laboratory and proposed Enabling Center support practical learning and professional skill development. The department also developed the IUB Mental Health Policy 2025 (Version 1.0) to promote the wellbeing of students and staff. Academic linkages with Queen's University, Canada, and Abertay University, Scotland, create opportunities for collaborative research and academic exchange. Through culturally relevant scholarship and responsible use of emerging technologies, the department prepares competent graduates to address psychological, educational, organisational, and community needs.

The department is committed to integrating classroom learning with supervised training in psychological assessment, counselling, research, and community service. It promotes culturally responsive scholarship that addresses the mental health and psychosocial needs of Southern Punjab while contributing to national and international knowledge. The department seeks to strengthen partnerships with educational institutions, hospitals, community organisations, employers, and global academic partners. It also encourages responsible use of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, with due regard for research ethics, data privacy, and professional standards. Through continuous curriculum review and faculty development, the department aims to prepare reflective, competent, and socially responsible psychology graduates.

By expanding supervised training, funded research, academic exchange, and institutional partnerships, it seeks to prepare graduates who are professionally competent, technologically aware, globally informed, and committed to improving individual and community wellbeing.
