About Me

I am Noor Hamid Khan Mahsud. I belong to the South Waziristan (Upper) District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; however, my family has long been settled in District Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. I received my early education in Tank and completed my undergraduate studies (14 years of education) at Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan.

For higher education, I moved to Islamabad, where I completed my Master’s and MPhil degrees from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. I subsequently obtained my PhD in Political Science from International Islamic University Islamabad. My doctoral research focused on voting behaviour in Pashtun society. During my MPhil and PhD studies, I conducted extensive fieldwork and employed mixed methods approach for qualitative and quantitative data collection. My research interests primarily include human rights under colonial laws (FCR) and voting behaviour in Pashtun society.

While pursuing my PhD, I also began my teaching career as a visiting faculty member in the Department of Politics and International Relations at International Islamic University Islamabad. I taught various courses there for approximately six years (2016–2018 and 2019–2020).

Prior to my MPhil, I joined Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Pakistan) on a contract basis, where my primary responsibilities included translation and transcription. I worked there from 2012 to 2019. During this period, I was also involved in several development sector projects, where I conducted qualitative and quantitative data collection through interviews and surveys, as well as transcription work.

Currently, I am serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Pakistan Studies at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. I initially joined the university as an Associate Lecturer on a fixed-pay basis in October 2020 and later in 2022 I was appointed as a regular faculty member.
