Profile Summary

Dr. Muhammad Asghar Sial is a seasoned academic with more than 22 years of experience in education, mentorship, and scholarly leadership. He holds an M.Phil in Urdu and Iqbaliat as well as an LLB from BZU Multan, reflecting his multidisciplinary academic background. His academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. from the University of Karachi, establishing him as a distinguished scholar in the field of Urdu and Iqbal Studies.

Further strengthening his academic profile, he completed his Post-Doctoral Research in August 2024 from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. His postdoctoral research was titled “Sir Syed aur Iqbal ki Maghrib Shanasi aur us ke Mabaad Adab par Asraat” (The Perception of the West by Sir Syed and Iqbal and its Impact on Later Literature). Postdoctoral research refers to advanced scholarly work conducted after the completion of a doctoral degree to further develop expertise and academic contribution.

As a mentor and teacher trainer in the Punjab Education Department, he has significantly influenced the educational landscape, shaping the intellectual development of future generations. His commitment to academic excellence is further reflected in his role as the Head of the Department of Urdu and Iqbaliat at Bahawalnagar Campus.

Serving as Deputy Director Students Affairs, Faculty of Arts & Languages, he has played an active role in student development and academic administration. As an HEC-approved supervisor and prolific researcher, he has published more than 34 research articles in national and international HEC-recognized journals, along with an important book titled “Karwan Jamaay Urdu Mazameen.”

He has actively participated in 22 national and international conferences, demonstrating his commitment to scholarly dialogue and intellectual exchange. As a research supervisor, he has successfully supervised 11 PhD scholars and 42 M.Phil scholars, many of whom have already completed their research while some are currently continuing their work under his supervision.

Dr. Sial also serves as Associate Editor of the HEC-approved research journal “PAYAM (Research Journal of Iqbal Studies)” and Coordinator of the PhD  and MPhil Iqbal Studies Programmes, contributing significantly to the promotion of research in Iqbal Studies. Alongside his academic achievements, his creative talent as a calligraphist adds a unique artistic dimension to his scholarly personality, making him a distinguished asset to the Department of Iqbal Studies.
