Research and Development Projects

1. Chemical Profiling and in vitro studies of the extrcat and metabolites of caralluma edulis to find out new and safer anti-anxiety drug

(2021-07 - 2023-06)

Caralluma tuberculata showed anti-anxiety studies in animal model, thus the other available species Caralluma edulis, which is being used as emergency plant in desert area was also investigated for the same effects.

2. Chemodiversity and biological potential of endophytic fungi associated with desert plants

(2019-10 - 2021-09)

Investigation on desert plant was further extended to their associated endophytic fungi, which has been identified as potential source of bioactive compounds

3. Further chemical and biological investigation of medicinal plants in cholistan desert

(2014-06 - 2016-05)

In the light of previous phytochemical investigation on plants of cholistan desert, another project was granted to search for more medicinally significance plants.

4. Phytochemical and Biological Investigation on Tribulus Terrestris, a medicinal plant of Cholistan Desert

(2010-07 - 2012-06)

During previous research, it was found that an annual herb tribulus in Cholistan Desert possess disease prevention properties, therefore, it was further investigated for its bio-active chemicals

5. Development of Novel anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory agents from the opuntia

(2008-10 - 2009-11)

This project was funded by the Third world academy of sciences, Italy to investigate Pakistani plants for their medicinal potential.

6. Phytochemical investigation of desert plants

(2007-09 - 2008-08)

This project was funded by the AvH Foundation Germany. The objective was to search for important medicinal plants in Cholistan Desert
