Professional Experience:


Dr. Imran Khalid is a  distinguished educationist, researcher, and academic administrator currently serving as Head of the Department of Agricultural Extension Education at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. With a PhD in Agricultural Extension and an MBA in Project Management, he brings over a decade of experience in higher education, institutional development, and academic leadership. He is widely recognized for his strategic vision, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to advancing agricultural education in Pakistan.

As Head of Department, Dr. Khalid provides academic and administrative leadership to strengthen teaching quality, research productivity, and community engagement. He has led curriculum reforms, enhanced quality assurance mechanisms, and fostered a culture of innovation and student-centered learning. His leadership focuses on aligning departmental goals with national agricultural priorities while preparing graduates to address emerging challenges such as climate change, food security, and sustainable farming.

Dr. Khalid has extensive teaching and research experience, delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in agricultural extension and rural development. He has supervised more than 100 BSc (Hons.) students and co-supervised MSc (Hons.) scholars, demonstrating a strong commitment to mentoring the next generation of agricultural professionals. His research portfolio includes over 20 peer-reviewed publications in reputable national and international journals, with key focus areas including agricultural extension systems, cotton production, climate resilience, farmer awareness, and sustainable agriculture.

Beyond departmental leadership, Dr. Khalid has held several significant administrative positions within the university. He has served as Faculty Coordinator and Secretary of the Board of Faculties for the Faculty of Agriculture & Environment, contributing to academic governance, policy implementation, and institutional coordination. Additionally, he served as Additional Director of the Islamia School System (ISS), where he played a pivotal role in institutional planning, developing strategic frameworks, initiating new school branches, and supporting quality education at the school level. These roles reflect his strong capacity for organizational leadership and multi-level academic administration.

His professional excellence has been acknowledged through multiple honors, most notably the prestigious Shan-e-Bahawalpur Award conferred by the District Government for developing the innovative “Man Propelled Sprayer” for agriculture. He has also actively contributed to academic conferences, agri-business exhibitions, and outreach initiatives that strengthen university–industry linkages.

Dr. Khalid’s expertise extends to consultancy, where he advises large-scale farming initiatives on mechanization, climate-smart agriculture, and extension strategies to enhance productivity and resource efficiency. Through his leadership, scholarship, and service, he continues to play a pivotal role in promoting academic excellence and supporting the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.

National Contributions and Professional Development:

Dr. Imran Khalid Provided expert advisory (July 2024 to till date)  and development services for the establishment and operational planning of a 5,000-acre agricultural farm in the Cholistan region under the Pantera Farm initiative. Responsibilities included strategic planning, extension education, resource management, and sustainable development practices.
