About Me
I am Humera Nawaz, a Lecturer in the Department of Law at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), and a PhD Scholar committed to excellence in legal education, research, and community engagement. I hold an LL.B. (Hons.) in Shariah and Law and an LL.M. in Muslim Family Law from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). I began my academic career as a Visiting Lecturer at the International Islamic University Islamabad, COMSATS University Islamabad, and the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, where I gained valuable teaching experience before joining IUB.
I am currently serving as the In-charge Student Affairs (Female Students) in the Department of Law. My teaching and research interests include Muslim Family Law, Human Rights Law, Gender Justice, and contemporary legal issues in Pakistan etc.
Beyond academia, I have actively contributed to national and international initiatives as a Master Trainer, Guest Speaker, and Community Stakeholder, leading capacity-building programmes and awareness campaigns on gender-based violence, youth empowerment, mental health, peacebuilding, social cohesion, and access to justice. I have collaborated with academic institutions, government organizations, civil society organizations, and international development partners to promote legal awareness and strengthen community resilience.
My research focuses on Muslim Family Law, human rights, gender justice, and the protection of marginalized communities. Through my teaching, research, academic leadership, and community engagement, As a lecturer, I believe that legal education should inspire critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and a lifelong commitment to justice and the rule of law. I strive to create an engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to connect legal principles with real-world issues, develop practical skills, and contribute meaningfully to the legal profession and society.
