About Me
Dr. Farooq Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He obtained his PhD in Zoology from Leiden University, where his research focused on the use of zebrafish embryos and larvae as alternative behavioral models in biomedical, pharmaceutical, and toxicological research.
His research interests include behavioral biology, toxicology, fish physiology, environmental toxicology, oxidative stress, histopathology, and animal behavior. Dr. Ahmad has contributed to several national and international research projects involving zebrafish models, nanotoxicology, aquaculture, poultry physiology, and experimental animal studies.
He has published research articles in reputed international journals including Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Behaviour, Behavioural Processes, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, and Catalysts. His academic collaborations span Pakistan and Europe, and he has presented his work at international conferences in the Netherlands, France, Japan, Scotland, Belgium, and Spain.
Dr. Ahmad has extensive experience supervising BS, MS, and M.Phil research projects in areas such as fish behavior, toxicology, oxidative stress, pharmacological interventions, animal physiology, and histopathology. He is particularly interested in promoting innovative and cost-effective animal models for scientific research and interdisciplinary biological studies.
In addition to teaching and research, he actively participates in scientific workshops, conferences, and academic mentoring activities. His broader goal is to contribute to the advancement of zoological sciences through impactful research, student training, and collaborative scientific innovation.
