About Me

Faisal Zulfiqar completed his M. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture-Horticulture in 2018 from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and PhD in 2024 from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), Pakistan. He is currently (from August 23, 2022 uptill now) serving as Lecturer in the Department of Horticultural Sciences (DHS), Faculty of Agriculture and Environment (FA&E) IUB. With a current citation count of more than 12K, Faisal has published numerous research and review articles in prestigious international journals, including Scientia Horticulturae, Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, Planta, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Frontiers in Plant Science, and BMC Plant Biology. Based on his significant and broad influence in his field of research, Faisal Zulfiqar has secured the Top 2% rank during 2022 to 2026. He is also serving as an associate editor in Ornamental Plant Research and the New Zealand Journal of Crop and Horticultural Science. Faisal chose to specialize in floriculture because it gives him the flexibility to investigate a wide range of topics related to his passion. His current focus lies on testing different protectants such as melatonin and biostimulants applied either at the preharvest or postharvest condition(s) for ornamental cut flowers performance and vase life. Additionally, he is carrying out investigations on abiotic and biotic stresses of horticultural crops. He is also interested in studies related to urban green spaces, urban biodiversity and growing media (biochar as peat alternative).
