About Me
Dr. Arif Mehmood is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Computing at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). He is an internationally recognized expert in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Health Informatics. His impactful research, evidenced by over 70 publications and thousands of citations, earned him a place on the prestigious "World's Top 2% Scientists" list by Stanford University and Elsevier in 2024. In 2020, he was honored with the Best Researcher Award by the Faculty of Computing at IUB.
Dr. Mehmood is a dedicated mentor and supervisor to the next generation of scientists. He has successfully supervised 15 Master's students and 2 Ph.D. students to the completion of their degrees. He is currently leading a dynamic research group, supervising an additional 7 MS and 5 Ph.D. candidates.
His teaching is focused on advanced topics in artificial intelligence for undergraduate, MS, and Ph.D. students.

From developing novel algorithms for early disease detection in medical images to analyzing social media data for public health surveillance, my work aims to deliver tangible benefits to society. I believe in the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and am always eager to connect with fellow researchers, students, and industry partners who share this vision.
