About Me
Professor Dr. Abou Bakar is an academic, researcher, and higher education leader with over 25 years of experience in university teaching, research, institutional governance, strategic planning, academic administration, and financial management across leading public-sector universities in Pakistan and Australia.
He currently serves as Professor at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) and has held several senior leadership positions, including Treasurer, Director, Bahawalnagar Campus, and Head of the Department of Management Sciences. Throughout his career, he has contributed to institutional transformation through strategic planning, governance reforms, financial stewardship, digital transformation, academic quality enhancement, and policy development in line with the standards of Pakistan's Higher Education Commission (HEC).
As Treasurer, he led university-wide financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal governance, modernized financial reporting systems, and strengthened transparency and accountability. As Director, Bahawalnagar Campus, he provided strategic leadership for academic administration, campus development, quality assurance, and infrastructure expansion, while playing a pioneering role in the establishment and growth of the campus, including the introduction of management sciences and computing programmes. As Head of the Department of Management Sciences, he strengthened academic governance, curriculum development, faculty development, research culture, and quality assurance.
His international academic profile includes doctoral and teaching experience in Australia, complemented by executive leadership programmes in higher education governance and management, including the HEC–British Council Leadership Training Programme in London and participation in the Australian Business Deans Council. He was also recognized for mentoring business students through the Business Mentor Program in Australia.
An accomplished scholar, Professor Dr. Abou Bakar has published more than 50 HEC-recognized national and international research papers in higher education, organizational behavior, sustainability, public policy, human resource management, Islamic marketing, and behavioral sciences. He has secured an HEC-funded research grant on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), received the Emerald Group Publishing Highly Commended Paper Award, and won the Best Conference Paper Award at the Global Islamic Marketing Conference, Dubai. He also serves as a reviewer for national and international peer-reviewed academic journals.
A committed educator and mentor, he has successfully supervised six PhD scholars and is currently supervising four doctoral candidates, while continuing to contribute to research excellence, postgraduate education, faculty development, and institutional capacity building.
He remains committed to advancing higher education through academic excellence, impactful research, sound governance, innovation, and sustainable institutional development.
