The Department of Horticultural Sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, has recently formally launched the second phase of its horticultural orchards based on the 'hedge-row' system. During a visit to the project, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran stated that this phase would prove pivotal in the production of key fruit crops such as citrus, mango, guava, ber, and olive as well as other premium fruit varieties. He commended the Department of Horticultural Sciences for its efforts in promoting research, sustainable production systems, student training, and environmental sustainability within the field of horticulture. He emphasized the importance of aligning university research with practical agricultural challenges and creating opportunities for students to contribute to the development of the regional agricultural sector. The Department of Horticultural Sciences reiterated its commitment to advancing modern, sustainable horticultural research and strengthening collaborations with agricultural research institutions and farmers. This second phase of the orchards represents a significant step toward integrating fruit germplasm evaluation, student research, commercial horticulture, academic instruction, revenue generation, and environmental aesthetics into the university's educational and research framework. This initiative will bolster the university's role in horticultural innovation and sustainable agriculture while providing research-based solutions for local farmers. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Department of Horticultural Sciences, Professor Dr. Muhammad Nafees, along with Professor Dr. Muhammad Naveed Aslam, Professor Muhammad Naeem, faculty members, staff, and students.

شعبہ ہارٹیکلچرل سائنسز فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرنمنٹ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے گزشتہ دنوں ہیج رو سسٹم پر مبنی باغبانی کے باغات کے دوسرے مرحلے کا باقاعدہ آغاز کیا ہے۔وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے اس منصوبے کا دورہ کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یہ مرحلہ اہم پھل دار فصلوں سٹرس آم امرود بیر زیتون اور دیگر بہترین اقسام کے پھلوں کی پیداوار میں اہم ثابت ہوگا۔ انہوں نے باغبانی کے شعبے میں تحقیق پائیدار پیداواری نظام طلباو طالبات کی تربیت اور ماحولیاتی پائیداری کو فروغ دینے میں شعبہ ہارٹیکلچرل سائنسز کی کوششوں کو سراہا۔ انہوں نے یونیورسٹی کی تحقیق کو زراعت کے عملی چیلنجوں سے ہم آہنگ کرنے اور طلباء وطالبات کے لیے علاقائی زرعی شعبے کی ترقی میں اپنا کردار ادا کرنے کے مواقع پیدا کرنے کی اہمیت پر زور دیا۔ شعبہ ہارٹیکلچرل سائنسز نے جدید اور پائیدار باغبانی تحقیق کو آگے بڑھانے اور زرعی تحقیقی اداروں اور کاشتکاروں کے ساتھ تعاون کو مضبوط بنانے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا۔ باغبانی کے باغات کا دوسرا مرحلہ یونیورسٹی کے تعلیمی اور تحقیقی ڈھانچے میں پھلوں کے جینیاتی ذخائر کی جانچ طلباء وطالبات کی تحقیق تجارتی باغبانی تدریس آمدنی کے حصول اور ماحولیاتی خوبصورتی کو یکجا کرنے کی جانب ایک اہم قدم ہے۔ اس اقدام سے باغبانی میں جدت اور پائیدار زراعت کے لیے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کا کردار مضبوط ہوگا اور ساتھ ہی مقامی کاشتکاروں کے لیے تحقیق پر مبنی حل بھی فراہم کیے جا سکیں گے۔ اس موقع پر شعبہ ہارٹیکلچرل سائنسز کے چیئرمین پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نفیس پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد نوید اسلم اور پروفیسر محمد نعیم فیکلٹی ممبران عملے اور طلباو طالبات موجود تھے ۔
