The IUB, Pakistan and Tarim University, China Strengthen Research Collaboration in Horticultural Sciences

Dr. Muhammad Azher Nawaz, Associate Professor, Department of Horticultural Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture & Environment The Islamia University of Bahawalpur successfully completed a week-long academic and research cooperation visit to Tarim University, Xinjiang, China. The visit was aimed at strengthening institutional partnerships, promoting collaborative research, and expanding academic exchange between the two universities. During the visit, Dr. Nawaz represented The Islamia University of Bahawalpur at the prestigious 9th China–Eurasia Expo, where he participated alongside Prof. Yan Xiangling, President of Tarim University, university leaders, international delegates, researchers, and representatives from industry. The Expo provided an excellent platform for enhancing international cooperation in higher education, scientific research, innovation, and technology transfer. As part of the official programme, Dr. Nawaz had formal meetings with Prof. Zhang Aiping, Party Secretary of Tarim University, Prof. Yan Xiangling, President of Tarim University, Prof. Wu Cuyin, Dean, College of Horticulture, Prof. Yang Zhenchao, Vice Dean, and Dr. Liu Yifei, Leader of Protected Cultivation Systems. During these discussions, both institutions agreed to enhance academic and research cooperation, particularly in the fields of protected cultivation systems, and desert horticulture. The proposed collaboration will include joint research projects, faculty and student exchange, scientific publications, and technology transfer between Tarim University and The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Dr. Nawaz also delivered an invited seminar at the College of Horticulture on Vegetable Grafting, Desert Horticulture, and Protected Cultivation. The seminar attracted faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students and was followed by an interactive discussion on future research opportunities and emerging challenges in desert horticulture. The visit also highlighted the long-standing research collaboration between Dr. Liu Yifei and Dr. Nawaz, both researchers have jointly supervised a Master's student in Horticulture studying at Tarim University and recently co-authored a research article published in the prestigious journal Scientia Horticulturae, reflecting the growing scientific partnership between the two institutions. In addition to academic activities, the delegate visited advanced protected cultivation facilities and desert horticulture research sites in Hotan Desert region. The participants observed China's innovative greenhouse technologies and climate-smart practices, which offer valuable opportunities for adaptation in Pakistan to improve agricultural productivity under arid and semi-arid conditions. The Vice Chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran appreciated this research exchange visit and said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur will further strengthen ties with the Tarim University, Xinjiang, China for joint research in the field of desert horticulture. The successful visit marks another important milestone in expanding bilateral academic collaboration and is expected to pave the way for future joint research initiatives, international publications, and institutional partnerships in horticultural sciences.

ڈاکٹر محمد اظہر نواز ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر شعبہ ہارٹیکلچرل سائنسز فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے تارم یونیورسٹی سنکیانگ چین کا ایک ہفتے کا علمی اور تحقیقی دورہ مکمل کیا۔ اس دورے کا مقصد ادارہ جاتی شراکت داری کو مضبوط بنانا باہمی تحقیق کو فروغ دینا اور دونوں جامعات کے درمیان تعلیمی تبادلے کو وسعت دینا تھا۔ دورے کے دوران ڈاکٹر اظہر نواز نے نوویں چائنا یوریشیا ایکسپو میں اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی نمائندگی کی جہاں انہوں نے تارم یونیورسٹی کے صدر پروفیسر یان ژیانگلنگ یونیورسٹی کے رہنماؤں بین الاقوامی مندوبین محققین اور صنعت کے نمائندوں کے ساتھ ملاقاتیں کیں۔ انٹرنیشنل ایکسپو نے اعلیٰ تعلیم سائنسی تحقیق اختراعات اور ٹیکنالوجی کی منتقلی میں بین الاقوامی تعاون کو بڑھانے کے لیے ایک بہترین پلیٹ فارم فراہم کیا۔ ڈاکٹر اظہر نواز نے تارن یونیورسٹی کے پارٹی سیکرٹری پروفیسر ژانگ ایپنگ یونیورسٹی کے صدر پروفیسر یان ژیانگلنگ کالج آف ہارٹیکلچر کے ڈین پروفیسر وو کیوئن وائس ڈین پروفیسر یانگ ژینچاؤ اور سسٹم کے لیڈر ڈاکٹر لیو یفی سے باضابطہ ملاقاتیں کیں۔ بات چیت کے دوران دونوں اداروں نے تعلیمی اور تحقیقی تعاون کو بڑھانے پر اتفاق کیا۔ مجوزہ تعاون میں تارم یونیورسٹی چائنا اور اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے درمیان مشترکہ تحقیقی منصوبے فیکلٹی اور طلبہ کا تبادلہ سائنسی اشاعتیں اور ٹیکنالوجی کی منتقلی شامل ہوگی۔ ڈاکٹر نواز نے کالج آف ہارٹیکلچر میں سبزیوں کی پیوند کاری صحرائی باغبانی اور پروٹیکٹڈ کاشت پر ایک خصوصی لیکچربھی دیا۔ سیمینار کے شرکاء نے صحرائی باغبانی میں ابھرتے ہوئے چیلنجز پر ایک انٹرایکٹو سیشن میں بھی شرکت کی۔ اس دورے میں ڈاکٹر لیو یفی اور ڈاکٹر اظہر نواز کے درمیان دیرینہ تحقیقی تعاون کو بھی اجاگر کیا گیا اور دونوں محققین نے مشترکہ طور پر تارم یونیورسٹی میں ہارٹیکلچر میں زیر تعلیم ماسٹرز کے طالب علم کی نگرانی کی ہے اور حال ہی میں ممتاز جریدے سائنٹیا ہارٹیکلچر میں شائع ہونے والے ایک تحقیقی مضمون کی مشترکہ تصنیف کی ہے جو دونوں سائنسی اداروں کے درمیان بڑھتے ہوئے شراکت دار کی عکاسی کرتا ہے۔تعلیمی سرگرمیوں کے علاوہ مندوب نے ہوتن صحرائی علاقے میں جدید محفوظ کاشت کی سہولیات اور صحرائی باغبانی کی تحقیقی سائٹس کا دورہ کیا۔ شرکاء نے چین کی جدید گرین ہاؤس ٹیکنالوجیز اور موسمیاتی سمارٹ طریقوں کا مشاہدہ کیا جو پاکستان میں خشک اور نیم خشک حالات میں زرعی پیداوار کو بہتر بنانے کے لیے موافقت کے لیے قابل قدر مواقع فراہم کرتے ہیں۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے اس تحقیقی تبادلے کے دورے کو سراہتے ہوئے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور صحرائی باغبانی کے شعبے میں مشترکہ تحقیق کے لیے تارم یونیورسٹی سنکیانگ چین کے ساتھ تعلقات کو مزید مضبوط کرے گی۔ کامیاب دورہ دو طرفہ علمی تعاون کو وسعت دینے میں ایک اور اہم سنگ میل کی نشاندہی کرتا ہے اور مستقبل میں مشترکہ تحقیقی اقدامات، بین الاقوامی اشاعتوں اور باغبانی کے علوم میں ادارہ جاتی شراکت داری کے لیے راہ ہموار ہوگی۔
