The Islamia University of Bahawalpur celebrated World Wildlife Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and commitment

On the occasion of World Wildlife Day, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, while emphasizing the importance of conserving natural heritage and biodiversity, has asked the students and faculty to adopt sustainable practices and actively contribute to the conservation of wildlife. Especially, the responsibility of protecting and preserving an ecologically important region like Cholistan must be fulfilled in a proper manner. He reiterates the university’s commitment to promoting environmentally aware research and responsible stewardship for a greener and safer future for future generations. In this regard the Institute of Forest Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur celebrated World Wildlife Day with great enthusiasm and commitment. A series of events was organized to mark the occasion. The celebrations began with a seminar titled Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods. The seminar highlighted the vital role of medicinal and aromatic plants in promoting human health, preserving traditional knowledge, conserving biodiversity, and supporting sustainable livelihoods. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafay Director of the Institute of Forest Sciences formally welcomed the guests and participants. In his address, he emphasized the importance of wildlife conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources, particularly medicinal and aromatic plants, for present and future generations. He also acknowledged the efforts and support of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, for promoting a strong academic and learning environment on campus. Irsa Irshad from the Wildlife Department, Government of Punjab, delivered an informative talk. She discussed the role of environmental institutions in conserving biodiversity, protecting ecosystems, and promoting sustainable environmental practices. She also stressed the importance of community participation and youth engagement in environmental conservation efforts. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment delivered the concluding remarks. He appreciated the Director of the Institute, the Focal Person of the event Dr. Sangham Khalil, faculty members, and the office bearers of the Forestry Students Club for organizing the event in an excellent and disciplined manner. He encouraged the students to continue such academic and awareness activities in the future. Following the seminar, an awareness walk was organized on campus to promote the message of wildlife conservation and environmental responsibility. The Chief Guest actively participated in the walk along with faculty members and students, demonstrating his support for environmental awareness initiatives. The event concluded with a collective commitment from all participants to continue working for environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and the promotion of medicinal and aromatic plants as valuable natural resources.

جنگلی حیات کے عالمی دن کے موقع پر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے قدرتی ورثے اور حیاتیاتی تنوع کے تحفظ کی اہم اہمیت پر زور دیتے ہوئے طلباء و طالبات اور فیکلٹی سے کہا ہے کہ وہ پائیدار طریقوں کو اپنائیں اور جنگلی حیات کے تحفظ میں فعال طور پر حصہ ڈالیں۔ خاص طور پر چولستان جیسے ماحولیاتی لحاظ سے اہم خطے کے تحفظ اور بقا کی ذمہ داری کو احسن انداز سے نبھانا ہے۔ آنے والی نسلوں کے لیے ایک سرسبز اور محفوظ مستقبل کے لیے ماحولیاتی آگاہی تحقیق اور ذمہ دارانہ ذمہ داری کو فروغ دینے کے لیے یونیورسٹی کے عزم کا اعادہ کرتا ہے۔ اسی سلسلے میں انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف فاریسٹ سائنسز، فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے جنگلی حیات کا عالمی دن بڑے جوش و خروش اور عزم کے ساتھ منایا۔ اس موقع پر طبی اور خوشبودار پودے، صحت، ورثہ اور معاش کا تحفظ کے موضوع پر سیمینار منعقد کیا گیا۔  سیمینار نے انسانی صحت کو فروغ دینے، روایتی علم کے تحفظ، حیاتیاتی تنوع کے تحفظ اور پائیدار معاش کی حمایت میں دواؤں اور خوشبودار پودوں کے اہم کردار پر روشنی ڈالی۔ انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف فاریسٹ سائنسز کے ڈائریکٹر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد رافع نے مہمانوں اور شرکاء کو خوش آمدید کہا۔ اپنے خطاب میں انہوں نے موجودہ اور آنے والی نسلوں کے لیے جنگلی حیات کے تحفظ اور قدرتی وسائل بالخصوص دواؤں اور خوشبودار پودوں کے پائیدار استعمال کی اہمیت پر زور دیا۔ انہوں نے کیمپس میں ایک مضبوط تعلیمی ماحول کو فروغ دینے کے لیے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران کی کوششوں اور تعاون کا بھی اعتراف کیا۔ محکمہ جنگلی حیات، حکومت پنجاب کی جانب سے ارسا ارشاد نے خطاب کرتے ہوئے حیاتیاتی تنوع کے تحفظ، ماحولیاتی نظام کی حفاظت، اور پائیدار ماحولیاتی طریقوں کو فروغ دینے میں ماحولیاتی اداروں کے کردار پر تبادلہ خیال کیا۔ انہوں نے ماحولیاتی تحفظ کی کوششوں میں کمیونٹی کی شرکت اور نوجوانوں کی شمولیت کی اہمیت پر بھی زور دیا۔ مہمان خصوصی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی، ڈین، فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ نے اختتامی کلمات کہے۔ انہوں نے انسٹی ٹیوٹ کے ڈائریکٹر، تقریب کے فوکل پرسن ڈاکٹر سنگھم خلیل، فیکلٹی ممبران اور فاریسٹری سٹوڈنٹس کلب کے عہدیداران کو شاندار اور نظم و ضبط کے ساتھ ایونٹ کے انعقاد پر سراہا۔ انہوں نے طلباء کی حوصلہ افزائی کی کہ وہ مستقبل میں بھی ایسی علمی اور آگاہی سرگرمیاں جاری رکھیں۔ سیمینار کے بعد کیمپس میں جنگلی حیات کے تحفظ اور ماحولیاتی ذمہ داری کے پیغام کو فروغ دینے کے لیے آگاہی واک کا اہتمام کیا گیا۔ مہمان خصوصی نے فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلباء کے ساتھ واک میں بڑھ چڑھ کر حصہ لیا اور ماحولیاتی آگاہی کے اقدامات کے لیے اپنی حمایت کا مظاہرہ کیا۔ تقریب کا اختتام تمام شرکاء کی جانب سے ماحولیاتی پائیداری، حیاتیاتی تنوع کے تحفظ، اور قیمتی قدرتی وسائل کے طور پر دواؤں اور خوشبودار پودوں کے فروغ کے لیے کام جاری رکھنے کے اجتماعی عزم کے ساتھ ہوا۔
