Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Director Institute of Biochemistry Biotechnology and Bioinformatics the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has participated in the PRPH2 Retinal Diseases Workshop-2026 jointly organized by the Foundation Fighting Blindness Columbia Maryland USA and the Nixon Vision Foundation San Diego USA. The workshop brought together leading international experts in retinal disorders research and treatment along with affected families from across the globe. During the workshop Prof. Dr. Iqbal actively participated in seminars panel discussions and networking sessions on inherited retinal disorders with a special focus on enrolling patients from Pakistan in international clinical trials. Prof. Dr. Iqbal also held significant meeting for institutional collaboration with Mr. Brandon Nixon Co-Founder and CEO Nixon Vision Foundation to explore collaborative opportunities with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He also met with Dr. Radha Ayyagari Professor of Ophthalmology and Pathology and Chief of Ophthalmic Molecular Genetics Laboratory at Shiley Eye Institute UC San Diego USA. These engagements have successfully led to a formal collaboration between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan and the Shiley Eye Institute UC San Diego USA encompassing joint research academic exchange and screening of affected families from Pakistan for potential therapeutic interventions. This international partnership is a landmark achievement for IUB and will pave the way for advanced research and treatment of inherited blindness in Pakistan.

پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد اقبال ڈائریکٹر انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف بائیو کیمسٹری بائیوٹیکنالوجی اینڈ بائیو انفارمیٹکس اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے فاؤنڈیشن فائٹنگ بلائنڈنس کولمبیا میری لینڈ یو ایس اے اور نکسن ویژن فاؤنڈیشن سان ڈیاگو یو ایس اے کے زیر اہتمام مشترکہ طور پر منعقدہ ریٹینل ڈیزیز ورکشاپ میں شرکت کی۔ ورکشاپ میں متاثرہ خاندانوں کے ساتھ بین الاقوامی سطح پر ہونے والی بیماریوں کے علاج اور رہنمائی کرنے والے ماہرین نے شرکت کی۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اقبال نے وراثتی ریٹنا کے امراض پر سیمینار پینل مباحثوں اور نیٹ ورکنگ سیشنز میں فعال طور پر حصہ لیا جس میں خصوصی توجہ پاکستان کے مریضوں کو بین الاقوامی کلینیکل ٹرائلز میں شامل کرنے پر تھی۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اقبال نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے ساتھ باہمی تعاون کے مواقع تلاش کرنے کے لیے برینڈن نکسن بانی اور سی ای او نکسن وژن فاؤنڈیشن کے ساتھ ادارہ جاتی تعاون کے لیے ایک اہم میٹنگ بھی کی۔ انھوں نے ڈاکٹر رادھا ایاگری پروفیسر آف اوتھلمولوجی اینڈ پیتھالوجی اور چیف آف اوتھلمک انسٹی ٹیوٹ کے ساتھ بھی ملاقات کی۔
