Bahawalpur ( ) A one-day training workshop was organized by the Sugarcane Research and Development Board at Islamia University Bahawalpur. The cane field staff of Ashraf Sugar Mills Bahawalpur and other regional sugar mills, progressive sugarcane growers, as well as faculty and students from the university’s Agriculture Department participated in large numbers. In the event, sugarcane experts shed light on all aspects of the crop to provide farmers with comprehensive guidance to tackle challenges related to the upcoming crop season. According to the details, the Sugarcane Research and Development Board organized training workshops on sugarcane varieties, their identification, and increasing production at five major universities in Punjab: University of Agriculture Faisalabad, University of Sargodha, Nawaz Sharif Agricultural University Multan, Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering Rahim Yar Khan, and Islamia University Bahawalpur. As part of this series, in a one-day training workshop held at the Ghotvi Hall of Islamia University, CEO of the Sugarcane Research and Development Board, Dr. Shahid Afghan, addressing the participants, stated that the mission of their organization is to develop and provide modern, high-yield, and profitable seed varieties for sugarcane cultivation to the farmers of the country. The mills themselves also produce such seeds on their farms to distribute them widely to farmers, so that these varieties can be cultivated on larger areas and per-acre yields can be increased. Other experts speaking at the training workshop said that they are continuously introducing modern methods for the prevention of sugarcane diseases to ensure effective control. The importance of balanced use of fertilizers, seeds, and water was also highlighted to reduce cultivation costs. In addition, the experts emphasized promoting mechanized cultivation of sugarcane, explaining that mechanization can significantly reduce costs. Among the upcoming challenges faced by farmers, water scarcity is becoming a major issue. To address this, adopting drip irrigation technology has become essential so that water can be conserved as much as possible. The Punjab government is also providing subsidies on this project. Promoting intercropping with other crops during the September planting of sugarcane is highly important. This will not only provide farmers with additional income but will also maintain soil health. At the end of the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of Islamia University, Professor Dr. Engineer Muhammad Kamran, addressing the participants, said that they are grateful to the Chairman of the Sugarcane Research and Development Board, Chaudhry Muhammad Zaka Ashraf, that due to his excellent vision, they have gathered here today. Together, they are not only raising awareness about this important agricultural crop but are also collectively deliberating on challenges and formulating future strategies to address them. This will prove highly beneficial for the agricultural community in the future. He added that the doors of Islamia University are open not only to farmers but to people from all walks of life who can benefit from the expertise of their specialists at any time.

بہاولپور (پ ر) شوگرکین ریسرچ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ بورڈ کے زیراہتمام اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں ایک روزہ ٹریننگ ورکشاپ کا انعقاد ہوا۔ اشرف شوگر ملز بہاولپوروریجن کی دیگر شوگر ملوں کے کین فیلڈ عملہ ترقی پسند کماد کے کاشتکار یونیورسٹی کے ایگریکلچر فیکلٹی کے اساتذہ و طلبا ؤ طالبات نے کثیر تعداد میں شرکت کی۔ تقریب میں ماہرین کماد نے فصل کے مختلف پہلوں پر روشنی ڈالی تاکہ کسانوں کو آنے والی فصل سے متعلق درپیش چیلنجز سے نمٹنے میں مکمل رہنمائی حاصل ہوسکے۔ شوگر کین ریسرچ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ بورڈ نے پنجاب کی پانچ بڑی یونیورسٹیز ایگری کلچرل یونیورسٹی فیصل آباد، یونیورسٹی آف سرگودھا، نواز شریف ایگری کلچرل یونیورسٹی ملتان، خواجہ فرید یونیورسٹی آف انجینئرنگ رحیم یار خان اور اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں کماد کی اقسام اسکی پہچان اور پیداوار میں اضافہ پر ٹریننگ ورکشاپوں کا اہتمام کیا۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے غلام محمد گھوٹوی ہال میں ایک روزہ ٹریننگ ورکشاپ میں شرکاء سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے شوگرکین ریسرچ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ بورڈ کے سی ای او ڈاکٹر شاہد افغان نے بتایا کہ ہمارے ادارے کا یہ مشن ہے کہ وہ اپنے ملک کے کسان کو کماد کی کاشت کے لیے نئے جدید اور منافع بخش بیج کو تیار کرکے دینا ہے جو کہ ملیں بھی اپنے فارمز پر تیار کرکے ایسے بیجوں کو کسان بھائیوں کو زیادہ سے زیادہ تقسیم کرنا ہے جو زیادہ رقبہ پر کاشت ہو جس سے کماد کی فی ایکڑ پیداوار میں اضافہ ممکن ہوسکے۔ ٹریننگ ورکشاپ کی تقریب میں شامل دیگر ماہرین نے شرکاء سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ہم شب و روز کماد کی بیماریوں کی روک تھام کے لیے جدید طریقے متعارف کروا رہے ہیں تاکہ بیماریوں کی روک تھام کو یقینی بناسکیں کھادیں، بیج اور پانی کے متناسب استعمال پر بھی روشنی ڈالی گئی تاکہ کماد کی کاشت کے خرچہ میں کمی ہو اس کے علاوہ ماہرین نے کماد کی مشینی کاشت کے فروغ پر بھی زور دیتے ہوئے بتایا کہ مشینی کاشت کی بدولت لاگت میں نمایاں کمی کی جاسکتی ہے۔کسان کے لیے آنے والے درپیش چیلنجز میں پانی کی کمی ایک بہت بڑا مسلہ بنتا جا رہا ہے جس سے نمٹنے کے لیے ڈرپ ایری گیشن کی ٹیکنالوجی کو اپنا نابہت ضروری ہوگیا ہے تاکہ اس ہرممکن طور پر پانی کی بچت کی جاسکے گی اور اس پروجیکٹ پر پنجاب حکومت سبسڈی بھی فراہم کررہی ہے کماد کی ستمبر کاشت میں دوسری فصلوں کی مخلوط کاشت کو فروغ دینا نہایت لازمی ہے۔اس سے نہ صرف کاشتکار کا اضافی آمدنی ملے گی بلکہ اس کی زمین بھی صحت مند رہے گی۔ وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاول پور پروفیسر ڈاکٹرمحمد کامران نے شرکاء سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ  شوگرکین ریسرچ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ بورڈ کے چئیرمین چوہدری محمد ذکاء اشرف لائق تحسین ہیں کہ انکے بہترین ویژن کی بدولت آج زرعی ماہرین کسان کمیونٹی کی مدد کے لیے اکٹھے ہوئے ہیں اور ملکی زراعت کی اہم کماد کی فصل پر آگاہی فراہم کرنے کے علاوہ درپیش چیلنجز پر سوچ وفکر کرتے ہوئے مسائل سے نمٹنے اور آئندہ کا لائحہ عمل ترتیب دے رہے ہیں جو ہمارے زرعی معاشرے کے لیے مستقبل میں بہت ہی کارآمد ثابت ہو گا۔ وائس چانسلر کا کہنا تھا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے دروازے نہ صرف کاشتکار کے لیے کھلے ہیں بلکہ ہر طبقہ فکر ہمارے ماہرین سے ہر وقت مستفید ہوسکتا ہے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی نے زرعی فیکلٹی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں تحقیقی سرگرمیوں سے آگاہ کرتے ہوے فورم کی ہر طرح کی مدد کا یقین دلایا۔ اس موقع پر ایس آر ڈی بی کے ممبر ڈاکٹر آصف تنویر، ڈی جی ایوب ریسرچ ڈاکٹر ساجد الرحمن، ڈائریکٹر ایس آر آئی ڈاکٹر کاشف منیر، ڈائریکٹر فاطمہ شوگر ملز ریسرچ سنٹر ڈاکٹر نیازالحسن، میاں عمیر مصطفی، محمد احسان، اشرف شوگر ملز کے جنرل منیجر ایگری کلچرل محمد عمران، ایڈیشنل جنرل منیجر کین چوہدری فلک شیر، کین منیجر ارشاد احمد گل، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی کے ڈائریکٹر میڈیا اینڈ پبلکیشن ڈاکٹر شہزاد احمد خالد، محمد افتخار، رضوان احمد، محمد ساجد، محمد اکبر خان، قمر مشتاق کانجو ودیگر موجود تھے۔
