National Mathematics Olympiad 2021 held at IUB

Mathematics Department of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, organized the mega event IUB National Mathematical Olympiad 2021 (IUBNMO-2021) at Main Auditorium, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The National Universities and Affiliated Colleges participated in this event. A variety of programs were arranged which includes: Open House Quiz Gala, written as well as oral quiz individual competitions, individual problem-solving competitions, and written as well as oral team competitions. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, IUB was the Chief Patron of IUBNMO-2021 while Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, Chairman Department of Mathematics was Chief Organizer of IUBNMO-2021 and Coordinator of the event was Dr. Shafqat Ali. Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the entire organizing committee included Dr. Ghulam Abbas, Dr. Muhammad Shahzad Shabir, Dr. Muhammad Asghar and others for successfully organizing National Level Quiz and Problem-Solving Competitions. He said the Department of Mathematics of IUB is on the right track now. Department is regularly organizing different mega-events from three years under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa. The cash prizes worth 70 thousand were distributed among contestants during the event.  These prizes were distributed on every level of competitions that is after screening test, quarter-final, semi-final, and final as well as on the Open House Gala. The main objectives of Olympiad-2021 were, to promote the student’s abilities to learn Mathematics through competitions, to explore and appreciate genius minds in the field of Mathematics, to provide an intellectual forum to Mathematical genius, to develop critical and logical thinking of the students of Mathematics. IUB National Mathematical Olympiad was sponsored by The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, National Mathematical Society of Pakistan, and Innovative Learning (KSF-Pakistan). The PTV and Rohi news channels covered the IUB National Mathematical Olympiad. The booklet with the title “Memories and Achievements of the Department of Mathematics, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan from 1979-2021” was launched during the IUBNMO-2021. The author of this booklet is Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, Chairman Department of Mathematics, IUB.

شعبہ ریاضی، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے مرکزی آڈیٹوریم، بغداد الجدید کیمپس میں،آئی یو بی نیشنل میتھیٹیکل اولمپیاڈ 2021 کے نام سے میگا ایونٹ کا انعقاد کیا۔اس ایونٹ میں قومی یونیورسٹیوں اور وابستہ کالجوں نے حصہ لیا۔اس ایونٹ میں متعدد پروگراموں کا اہتمام کیا گیا جس میں اوپن ہاؤس کوئز گالا، تحریری نیز زبانی کوئز انفرادی مقابلے مسئلے کو حل کرنے کے انفرادی مقابلے شامل تھے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلراسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپوراس ایونٹ کے چیف سرپرست تھے جبکہ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر غلام مصطفی، چیئرمین شعبہ ریاضی چیف آرگنائزراور ڈاکٹر شفقت علی نے کوآرڈینیٹرکے فرائض سرانجام دیے۔ وائس چانسلرنے کہا کہ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی  کا شعبہ ریاضی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر غلام مصطفی کی سربراہی میں تین سال سے باقاعدگی سے مختلف میگا ایونٹس کا اہتمام کر رہا ہے۔انہوں نے قومی سطح کے کوئز اور مسئلہ حل کرنے کے مقابلوں کو کامیابی کے ساتھ منعقد کروانے پرڈاکٹر غلام عباس، ڈاکٹر محمدشہزادشبیر،ڈاکٹر محمد اصغرسمیت پوری آرگنائزنگ ٹیم کی کاوشوں کو سراہا۔تقریب کے دوران مقابلہ جات میں 70 ہزارروپے کے نقد انعامات تقسیم کئے گئے۔ یہ انعامات ہر سطح کے مقابلوں،جو اسکریننگ ٹیسٹ کے بعد، کوارٹر فائنل، سیمی فائنل اور فائنل نیز اوپن ہاؤس گالا میں تقسیم کیے گئے۔اولمپیاڈ۔2021 کومنعقد کروانے کے بنیادی مقاصدمیں مقابلوں کے ذریعہ ریاضی سیکھنے کے لئے طالب علم کی صلاحیتوں کو فروغ دینا،ریاضی کے میدان میں باصلاحیت ذہنوں کو تلاش کرنا اور ان کی تعریف کرنا،ریاضی کی صلاحیتوں کو فکری فورم فراہم کرنا،ریاضی کے طلباء کی تنقیدی اور منطقی سوچ کو فروغ دیناشامل  تھے۔ نیشنل ریاضیاتی اولمپیاڈ کی کفالت اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور، نیشنل میتھیٹیکل سوسائٹی آف پاکستان اور جدید لرننگ نے کی۔جبکہ پاکستان ٹیلی ویژن اور روہی ٹی وی نے اس ایونٹ کی بھرپور کوریج کی۔اس دوران پروفیسرڈاکٹر غلام مصطفی،چئیرمین شعبہ ریاضی کی کتاب شعبہ ریاضی، دی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی آف بہاولپور پاکستان کی یادیں اور کارنامے 1979ء تا 2021ء  کی تقریب رونمائی کا بھی انعقاد کیا گیا۔
