Mr. Muhammad Ramadan, a PhD scholar from the Department of English Linguistics, will defend his thesis on July 28, 2026.

The Department of English Linguistics at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) will host the public defense of PhD candidate Mr. Muhammad Ramzan at 11:30 a.m. on July 28, 2026, in the Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus.Mr. Muhammad Ramzan will defend his doctoral dissertation entitled "Exploring Literary Style and Linguistic Features through a Pragma-Stylistic Approach in the Selected Novels of Qaisra Shahraz and Soniah Kamal."The research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Misbah Afsheen Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of English Linguistics, Faculty of Arts and Languages, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur.The external examiner for the public defense will be Dr. Noreen Saba, Assistant Professor, Department of English, National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Multan Campus.The dissertation makes an original scholarly contribution by bridging the disciplinary gap between linguistics and literary studies. Through an integrated pragma-stylistic framework, it demonstrates how Pakistani women writing in English strategically employ stylistic devices and pragmatic features to construct meaning, represent socio-cultural realities, and enrich the aesthetic and communicative dimensions of literary fiction.
