Annual art and design show of University College of Art and Design, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur began at Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus. As many as 51 artist students of final year class presented their art work at display in newly inaugurated Hakra Art Gallery at the university. Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor along with renowned artist and former Principal, National College of Arts, Lahore inaugurated the thesis display. The visitors praised the innovative designs in painting, miniature, calligraphy, textile and digital art formats. It was noted that artist besides highlighting various social issues on their canvas also beautifully presented Cholistani culture and thousands year old Hakra Valley civilization. The experts visiting from renowned art schools from across Pakistan highly praised the creative style and innovation of art students. They were of the view that art work of local students should be displayed in big cities and projected through various mediums including social media.

انجینئر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اطہر محبوب وائس چانسلر نے کہا ہے کہ کالج آف آرٹ اینڈ ڈیزائن کے طلبہ وطالبات کی تخلیقی صلاحیتیں جدت اور انفرادیت میں اپنی مثال آپ ہیں۔ طلباء کے بنائے ہوئے فن پارے اُن کی بہترین ذہنی صلاحیتوں کی عکاس ہیں جن میں انہوں نے بہت خوبصورت انداز میں معاشرتی مسائل کو اُجاگر کیا ہے۔ وائس چانسلر نے ان خیالات کا اظہار کالج آف آرٹ اینڈ ڈیزائن میں منعقد ہونے والی طلبہ وطالبات کے بنائے ہوئے فن پاروں کی سالانہ نمائش کے افتتاح کے موقع پر کیا۔ اس موقع پر نامور آرٹسٹ اور سابق پرنسپل نیشنل کالج آف آرٹس لاہور سلیمہ ہاشمی اور ملک کے دیگر آرٹ اِداروں سے آئے ہوئے نامور ماہرین، معززینِ شہر ملک حبیب اللہ بھٹہ اورسید تابش الوری، طلباء اور اساتذہ کثیر تعداد میں موجود تھے۔وائس چانسلر نے کہا کہ نامور ماہرین کی موجودگی کالج آف آرٹ اینڈ ڈیزائن کے اساتذہ اور طلبہ وطالبات دونوں کے لیے انتہائی مفید ہے جنہیں اپنے آرٹ کو دکھانے اور اس سے متعلق رہنمائی حاصل کرنے کا بھر پور موقع ملے گا۔ سلیمہ ہاشمی نے کہا کہ بہاول پور کے طلبہ وطالبات کے آرٹ کا کام ملک کے مشہور اِداروں کا ہم پلہ ہے۔ اس کام میں انفرادیت یہ ہے کہ طلبہ وطالبات نے مقامی خطے خصوصاً چولستانی آرٹ اور کلچر کو بھی نمایاں کیا ہے۔یہ نمائش نو تعمیر شدہ ہاکڑہ آرٹ گیلری میں منعقد ہوئی جس کا افتتاح حال ہی میں گورنر پنجاب چوہدری محمد سرور نے جامعہ کے دورے کے دوران کیا تھا۔ اس آرٹ گیلری کی تعمیر سے آرٹ کے طلباء کو پہلی مرتبہ باقاعدہ انداز میں اپنے فن پاروں کی نمائش کا موقع ملا ہے جبکہ آرٹ کے شائقین کو بہاول پور میں آرٹ کی بہترین نمائش گاہ میسر آگئی ہے۔ کالج پرنسپل ماریہ انصاری کے مطابق نمائش میں پینٹنگ، کیلی گرافی، ڈیجیٹل آرٹ، منی ایچر، ٹیکسٹائل ڈیزائن اور آرٹ کی دیگر بہت سی اصناف سے متعلقہ کام کو نمائش کے لیے پیش کیا گیا اور مجموعی طور پر 51طلبہ وطالبات نے حصہ لیا۔
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur was established in the year 1975 by upgrading historical institute of the Jamia Abbasia.
