The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has achieved a global ranking of 60–100 for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2026. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s overall rank in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025 is a remarkable improvement from the previous year’s overall rank of 801–1000. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has demonstrated exceptional progress across a broad spectrum of SDGs, demonstrating its institutional performance for sustainable development, academic advancement, and the improvement of academic capabilities. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur achieved phenomenal leaps in several key areas. For SDG 4 (Quality Education), the university catapulted from the 801–1000 band in 2025 to the highly competitive 301–400 band in 2026. Similarly, for SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), the Islamia University of Bahawalpur surged from the 801–1000 rank to the 401–600 band. In the realms of environmental and infrastructural sustainability, IUB jumped into the global Top 200 (101–200 band) for both SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) , rising significantly from the 301–400 band in 2025. The institution also saw major improvements in SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), moving from 601–800 to 301–400, and in SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), climbing from 401–600 to the 201–300 band. Beyond these massive leaps, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur demonstrated consistent, robust improvements across the board. The university enhanced its standing in SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), moving from 401–600 to 201–300, and advanced in both SDG 14 (Life below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) from the 301–400 band to the 201–300 band. Upward mobility was also secured in SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), shifting from 401–600 to 301–400, as well as in SDG 13 (Climate Action), which improved from 601–800 to 401–600. Furthermore, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur strengthened its commitments to social equity and welfare, improving its ranks in SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) from 1001–1500 to 801–1000, and in both SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), which rose from 801–1000 to 601–800. Amidst these widespread advancements, the university successfully maintained its strong, high-ranking positions in the 201–300 band for both SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger). Vice Chancellor of Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, said that this exceptional progress in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026 is a testament to our efforts for educational improvement and sustainable development.
