The Department of History at Islamia University Bahawalpur conducted a one-day seminar to commemorate the 60th death anniversary of Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V (1904–1966), the last Amir of Bahawalpur and a founding benefactor of Pakistan. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran said in his message that living nations always remember their luminaries and make their golden achievements a beacon of light. Nations that forget their luminaries stray from their destination and never succeed. Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi is a benefactor of Pakistan who played a prominent role in the establishment and stability of the newly born state of Pakistan. He was a far-sighted ruler and the progress and success of the state of Bahawalpur in the social, economic and educational fields is a clear proof of this. Similarly, his steps in public welfare work are still considered very exemplary. The purpose of organizing a ceremony in memory of Nawab Sahib every year at Jamia Islamia is to make our young generation aware of the achievements of this great leader of the Islamic nation. Dr. Samia Khalid Chairperson of the Department of History was the key speaker and shared a detailed presentation regarding the State of Bahawalpur and Nawab Sahibs services. Dr. Safia Siddiqui conducted the seminar and talked about the humane and futuristic aspects of the personality of Nawab Sir Sadiq Khan Abbassi. The chief guest of the seminar was the Dean Faculty of Arts and Languages, Prof Dr. Amir Sohail and he shared his valuable thoughts on this occasion, the remembrance of Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad khan Abbasi and lessons to be learned from his life. History department faculty member Dr. Mazher Hussain, Associate Professor, Dr. Muhammad Shafiq, Assistant Professor, Lecturers Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Dr. Khizer Hayat, also actively participated.

شعبہ تاریخ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے بہاولپور کے آخری امیر اور بانی محسن پاکستان نواب سر صادق محمد خان عباسی پنجم (1904-1966) کی 60 ویں برسی کی مناسبت سے ایک روزہ سیمینار کا انعقاد کیا۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے اپنے پیغام میں کہا کہ زندہ قومیں ہمیشہ اپنے مشاہیر کو یاد رکھتی ہیں اور ان کے سنہرے کارناموں کو مشعل راہ بناتی ہیں۔ سر صادق محمد خان عباسی محسن پاکستان ہیں جنہوں نے نوزائیدہ مملکت خداداد پاکستان کے قیام اور استحکام میں نمایاں کردار ادا کیا۔ وہ ایک دور اندیش حکمران تھے اور ریاست بہاولپور کی معاشرتی، اقتصادی اور تعلیمی میدان میں ترقی اور کامرانی اس بات کا بین ثبوت ہے۔ اسی طرح رفاہ عامہ کے کاموں میں بھی ان کے اقدامات آج بھی انتہائی مثالی تصور ہوتے ہیں۔ جامعہ اسلامیہ میں ہر سال نواب صاحب کی یاد میں تقریب منعقد کرنے کا مقصد ہماری نوجوان نسل کو ملت اسلامیہ کے اس عظیم رہنما کے کارناموں سے آگاہ کرنا ہے۔ ڈاکٹر سمیعہ خالد چیئرپرسن شعبہ تاریخ نے ریاست بہاولپور اور نواب سر صادق محمد خان عباسی پنجم کی خدمات کے حوالے سے تفصیلی گفتگو کی۔ ڈاکٹر صفیہ صدیقی نے سیمینار کی نظامت کی اور نواب سر صادق خان عباسی کی شخصیت کے انسانی اور مستقبل کے پہلوؤں پر بات کی۔ سیمینار کے مہمان خصوصی ڈین فیکلٹی آف آرٹس اینڈ لینگویجز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عامر سہیل تھے اور انہوں نے اس موقع پر اپنے قیمتی خیالات، نواب سر صادق محمد خان عباسی کی یاد اور ان کی زندگی سے سیکھے جانے والے اسباق سے آگاہ کیا۔ شعبہ تاریخ کے فیکلٹی ممبر ڈاکٹر مظہر حسین، ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسر، ڈاکٹر محمد شفیق اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر، لیکچررز ڈاکٹر ممتاز احمد خان، ڈاکٹر خضر حیات موجود تھے۔
