International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025 celebration at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Zaheer Iqbal Chander attended the event held at Khawaja Ghulam Farid Campus the Islamia University of Bahawalpur as the chief guest on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Zaheer Iqbal Chander said that the Punjab government is taking vigorous steps to bring the differently-abled people into the mainstream and make them active citizens of the country. 3% quota is reserved for differently-abled people in all government jobs, which is being strictly implemented. Addressing the ceremony, the Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly said that the purpose of celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is not to simply pity special people as they have disabilities and give them rights, but to recognize their abilities on the basis of equality. He said that special children are the most important part of the society and deserve special love and affection, which cannot be ignored under any circumstances. Allah Almighty has endowed them with innumerable qualities. Special children have proven by their performances that they are in no way less than other normal children. He said that special children have overcome their disabilities with their hard work and dedication and have shown their mettle in every field of the world. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, said that more than 700 children are studying in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, whose fees are completely free and they are also being provided with free transport facilities. If more facilities and resources are provided to special children, they can also live their lives like ordinary people. Therefore, the care of special children is essential. And it is the responsibility of all of us to take care of their basic rights. He said that the current government is taking practical steps to provide them with the best upbringing and provide them with the best education. Chairperson Special Education Professor Dr. Nasreen Akhtar, while addressing the special people participating in the ceremony, said that the special guests of today's ceremony are all of you, especially those special people who have not lost courage despite physical and other disabilities and have not only faced and defeated all the challenges of life but are also taking the lead in helping others. Finally, the Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly said that such events will continue to be organized in the future. More than 1000 special people from across the district participated in the ceremony who is leading their lives successfully despite their disabilities. On this occasion, shields were distributed to encourage those who take the best care of these special individuals. On this occasion, the Department of Special Education Dr. Imran Latif, Divisional Education Officer Special Education Muhammad Umar Sharif, Principal Special Education Muhammad Asif Iqbal, Principal Special Education Muhammad Yameen and Principal Muhammad Imran Raheel, along with parents and students from various centers, were present.
