Inauguration of the Center of Islamic Finance (CIF) at IBMAS, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur inaugurated the Center of Islamic Finance established in collaboration with the Department of Islamic and Conventional Banking, Institute of Business Management and Administrative Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and Meezan Bank Limited. Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences and Commerce and Director of the Institute of Business Management and Administrative Sciences, attended the ceremony as the Founder and Patron of the Centre of Islamic Finance. His visionary efforts and steadfast patronage were instrumental in setting up this centre at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The establishment of this centre underscores the Islamia University of Bahawalpur's commitment to contributing to the growth of Islamic finance, aligning with global trends and local needs. It is expected to serve as a hub for education, research, and industry engagement in Islamic financial disciplines. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Meezan Bank Limited. Distinguished guests included Mufti Zubair Ahmed, Member of the Shariah Board of Meezan Bank, who delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of aligning modern banking practices with Shariah principles to ensure inclusivity and socio-economic justice. Among other officers of Meezan Bank Abid Hussain Malik  Distribution Head, Eijaz Nadeem Regional General Manager, Bahawalpur, Abrar Hussain Area Manager, Bahawalpur, Naveed ul Hassan Regional Operations Manager, Mufti Muhammad Shoaib Shariah Scholar. Representatives of the State Bank of Pakistan graced the event, including Rass Masood Senior Deputy Chief Manager, Nouman Ali Assistant Chief Manager, and Fakhir Faraz Assistant Director, highlighting the regulator’s support in fostering innovation and stability in the Islamic financial system. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Owais Shafique, In-Charge Department of Islamic and Conventional Banking and Focal Person of Centre of Islamic Finance, emphasized the strategic role of Islamic finance in achieving sustainable economic development. He said that the Centre of Islamic Finance will not only provide academic and professional training but also create pathways for FinTech innovation, Green Finance, and ethical banking practices. This collaboration with Meezan Bank reflects our shared vision to position Bahawalpur and Pakistan as leaders in socially responsible and Shariah-compliant financial solutions. Prof. Dr. Areeba Khan, Director Financial Assistance, Prof. Dr. Abdul Majid Makki, Chairman, Department of Commerce, Dr. Hassan Mujtaba Nawaz Saleem, Head, Department of Finance, Dr. Javed Iqbal, Chairman, Department of Management and Human Resource Management, Dr. Nazim, Chairman, Department of Supply Chain Management, Umer Farooq, Lecturer and Research Coordinator, Department of Islamic and Conventional Banking, Dr. Muhammad Naeem Shahid, senior faculty from Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Bahawalpur were also present.

بہاولپور (پ ر) پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران وائس چانسلر نے ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف اسلامک اینڈ کنونشنل بینکنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف بزنس مینجمنٹ اینڈ ایڈمنسٹریٹو سائنسز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور اور میزان بینک لمیٹڈ کے تعاون سے قائم کیے گئے سنٹر آف اسلامک فنانس کا افتتاح کیا۔ ڈین فیکلٹی آف مینجمنٹ سائنسز اینڈ کامرس اور انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف بزنس مینجمنٹ اینڈ ایڈمنسٹریٹو سائنسز کے ڈائریکٹر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر جواد اقبال سنٹر آف اسلامک فنانس کے بانی اور سرپرست ہیں۔ اس سنٹر کا قیام اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے عالمی روابط اور مقامی ضروریات کے مطابق اسلامی مالیات کی ترقی کے عزم کی نشاندہی کرتا ہے۔ یہ اسلامی مالیاتی شعبوں میں تعلیم، تحقیق اور صنعت کی شمولیت کے لیے ایک مرکز کے طور پر کام کرے گا۔ اس موقع پر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور اور میزان بینک لمیٹڈ کے درمیان مفاہمت کی یادداشت پر بھی دستخط ہوئے۔ میزان بینک کے شریعہ بورڈ کے ممبر مفتی زبیر احمد شامل نے بینکنگ کے طریقوں کو شرعی اصولوں کے ساتھ ہم آہنگ کرنے کی اہمیت پر زور دیا۔ میزان بینک کے دیگر افسران میں عابد حسین ملک ڈسٹری بیوشن ہیڈ اعجاز ندیم ریجنل جنرل منیجر بہاولپور ابرار حسین ایریا منیجر بہاولپور نوید الحسن ریجنل آپریشنز منیجر مفتی محمد شعیب شریعہ سکالر شامل تھے۔ اسٹیٹ بینک آف پاکستان کے نمائندوں راس مسعود سینئر ڈپٹی چیف منیجر نعمان علی اسسٹنٹ چیف منیجراور فخر فراز اسسٹنٹ ڈائریکٹر بھی شریک ہوئے۔ انچارج ڈیپارٹمنٹ آف اسلامک اینڈ کنونشنل بینکنگ اور سنٹر آف اسلامک فنانس کے فوکل پرسن ڈاکٹر اویس شفیق نے پائیدار اقتصادی ترقی کے حصول میں اسلامی فنانس کے اسٹریٹجک کردار پر زور دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ سنٹر آف اسلامک فنانس نہ صرف علمی اور پیشہ ورانہ تربیت فراہم کرے گا بلکہ فن ٹیک اختراعات، گرین فنانس اور بینکنگ کے طریقوں کے لیے راستے بھی بنائے گا۔ اس موقع پر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اریبہ خان ڈائریکٹر فنانشل اسسٹنس پروفیسر ڈاکٹر عبدالماجد مکی چیئرمین شعبہ کامرس ڈاکٹر حسن مجتبیٰ نواز سلیم سربراہ شعبہ فنانس ڈاکٹر جاوید اقبال چیئرمین شعبہ مینجمنٹ اینڈ ہیومن ریسورس مینجمنٹ ڈاکٹرمحمد ناظم شعبہ سپلائی چین مینجمنٹ ڈاکٹر عمر فاروق لیکچرر اور ریسرچ کوآرڈینیٹر شعبہ اسلامک اینڈ کنونشنل بینکنگ ڈاکٹر محمد نعیم شاہد سینئر فیکلٹی چولستان یونیورسٹی آف ویٹرنری اینڈ اینیمل سائنسز بہاولپور بھی موجود تھے۔
