In the lead-up to World Cotton Day, a high-level delegation from the university visited the National Cotton Breeding Institute research farm to strengthen ties between academic research and sustainable cotton development. The visit highlighted ongoing efforts to boost the resilience and yield of cotton, one of the world’s most important natural fibers. The delegation was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran and included Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environment Prof. Dr. Tanvir Hussain Turabi. They were warmly received by National Cotton Breeding Institute Director Dr. Usman, who guided the team through the field facilities and shared updates on innovative cotton breeding research focused on climate change adaptation and efficient resource use. “With World Cotton Day approaching, this visit underscores our commitment to a future where cotton continues to be a lifeline for millions,” said Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran. “The research at National Cotton Breeding Institute is part of a global effort toward sustainable textiles and secure livelihoods for farming communities.” Prof. Dr. Tanvir Hussain Turabi emphasized the role of science and education in advancing the cotton sector. “The future of cotton lies in innovation. Our collaboration with National Cotton Breeding Institute shows how academic research can generate practical solutions across the entire cotton value chain, from farm to fabric,” he said. Faculty members from the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, including Dr. Abdul Rehman Lecturer, Dr. Iftikhar Ali Lecturer, and Dr. Humayun Assistant Professor, joined the visit along with students and NCBI field staff. Their participation reflected the strong collaborative spirit driving the cotton research initiatives. The visit concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony at the Dean’s office, marking the celebration of World Cotton Day and symbolizing a bright and prosperous future for the cotton industry. The event reaffirmed the university’s commitment to playing a key role in the global cotton community through research, innovation, and partnerships.

کپاس کے عالمی دن کی مناسبت سے وائس چانسلر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ میں نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ کے ریسرچ فارم کا دورہ کیا تاکہ تعلیمی تحقیق اور کپاس کی پائیدار ترقی کو مضبوط کیا جاسکے۔ دورے کے دوران وائس چانسلر کو روئی کی لچک اور پیداوار کو بڑھانے کے لیے جاری کوششوں سے متعلق آگاہ کیا گیا جو کہ دنیا کے اہم ترین قدرتی ریشوں میں سے ایک ہے۔ وائس چانسلر کے ہمراہ ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی بھی اس موقع پر موجود تھے۔ نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ کے ڈائریکٹر ڈاکٹر عثمان نے موسمیاتی تبدیلی اور کم آبی وسائل والی کپاس کی افزائش کی جدید تحقیق کے بارے میں آگاہ کیا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے کہا کہ کاٹن کے عالمی دن کی مناسبت سے یہ دورہ ایک ایسے مستقبل کے لیے ہمارے عزم کو واضح کرتا ہے جہاں کپاس لاکھوں لوگوں کے لیے زندگی کی علامت  ہے۔ نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ میں تحقیق پائیدار ٹیکسٹائل اور کاشتکاری کے لیے محفوظ ذریعہ معاش کی جانب عالمی کوششوں کا حصہ ہے۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی نے کپاس کے شعبے کو آگے بڑھانے میں سائنس اور تعلیم کے کردار پر زور دیا۔ کپاس کا مستقبل اختراع میں مضمر ہے۔ علمی تحقیق فارم سے لے کر فیبرک تک، پوری کاٹن ویلیو چین میں عملی حل پیدا کرسکتی ہے۔ پلانٹ بریڈنگ اینڈ جینیٹکس ڈیپارٹمنٹ کے فیکلٹی ممبران ڈاکٹر عبدالرحمن، ڈاکٹر افتخار علی اور ڈاکٹر ہمایوں، طلباءوطالبات اور نیشنل کاٹن بریڈنگ انسٹی ٹیوٹ کے فیلڈ اسٹاف اس دورے میں شامل ہوئے۔ یہ دورہ ڈین کے دفتر میں کیک کاٹنے کی تقریب کے ساتھ اختتام پذیر ہوا، جس میں کپاس کے عالمی دن کی تقریبات اور کپاس کی صنعت کے روشن اور خوشحال مستقبل کی علامت تھی۔
