Bahawalpur has long been renowned for its captivating desert, majestic palaces, rich libraries, and prestigious educational institutions. It has consistently played a vital role in nation-building. The academic institutions of Bahawalpur have nurtured exceptional academicians, poets, writers, athletes, and scientists who have earned national and international acclaim. Chief among these institutions is The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), which has always made commendable contributions to the spread of education and knowledge across Pakistan, from the serene valleys of Baltistan to the vast plains of Sindh, and from the majestic peaks of Kashmir to the arid landscapes of Balochistan. The new academic session of this esteemed institution in Southern Punjab has begun. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is a remarkable gift to the region, illuminating generations with the light of education. Its unique location, bordered by the desert on one side and the river on the other, adds to its charm, reflecting the vibrant and jubilant culture of the local population. The Punjab Government remains committed to improving education and research standards across the province, with a special focus on development in this area. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is working tirelessly to provide quality education and foster a research-based economy in the region. Its ambitious progress promises to elevate it to international academic and research excellence standards. The university’s faculties are becoming increasingly competitive, adapting to contemporary challenges, and focusing on strengthening human resources—the core mission of higher education institutions. I pray that IUB, as one of the country's premier institutions, continues to uphold its legacy and soar to new heights, becoming a global center of knowledge and learning.
