The 90th meeting of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur was held at the Khawaja Ghulam Farid Auditorium, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus, under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran. Deans and heads of academic departments participated in the meeting. Prof. Dr. Naveed Aslam Malghani, Director of Advanced Studies and Research, presented a report on the implementation of decisions made during the previous meeting. The meeting approved the theses of 159 scholars and the appointment of supervisors across various departments. To promote transparency in the review of PhD theses and maintain academic standards, the Board decided that a local examiner who reviews a thesis cannot be appointed as the local examiner for the subsequent PhD defense. The Board also recommended that retired faculty members be appointed as evaluators or examiners for M.Phil./PhD theses, provided they remain affiliated with an institution. In light of relevant Higher Education Commission (HEC) guidelines, the meeting approved the implementation of the HEC’s Graduate Education Policy 2023, effective from the Fall 2023 semester. Additionally, the meeting approved the appointment of M.Phil./MS faculty members possessing at least three years of teaching or research experience to supervise M.Phil./MS scholars. The Board also approved several other important postgraduate matters, including changes of supervisors, modifications to research or thesis titles, the appointment of co-supervisors, and extensions to the prescribed degree completion periods for M.Phil and PhD. scholars. Furthermore, the Board constituted various committees to adopt the Higher Education Commission’s Artificial Intelligence framework and to propose a policy for rationalizing thesis fees.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے ایڈوانسڈ اسٹڈیز اینڈ ریسرچ کا 90 ویں اجلاس وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران کی زیر صدارت خواجہ غلام فرید آڈیٹوریم بغداد الجدید کیمپس میں منعقد ہوا۔ اجلاس میں ڈینز، تدریسی شعبہ جات کے سربراہان شریک ہوئے۔ ڈائریکٹر ایڈوانسڈ اسٹڈیز اینڈ ریسرچ پروفیسر ڈاکٹرنوید اسلم ملغانی نے گزشتہ اجلاس میں کئے گئے فیصلوں پر عملدرآمد رپورٹ پیش کی۔اجلاس میں 159 سکالرز کے مقالہ جات اور مختلف شعبوں میں نگرانوں کی تقرریوں کی منظوری دی۔ پی ایچ ڈی تھیسس کے جائزے میں شفافیت کو فروغ دینے اور تعلیمی معیار کو برقرار رکھنے کے لیے بورڈ نے یہ منظوری دی کہ اگر کوئی مقامی ممتحن تھیسس کا جائزہ لیتا ہے، تو اسی ممتحن کو پی ایچ ڈی ڈیفنس کے انعقاد کے لیے مقامی ممتحن کے طور پر مقرر نہیں کیا جائے گا۔ بورڈ نے یہ بھی سفارش کی کہ ریٹائرڈ فیکلٹی ممبران کو ایم فل/ پی ایچ ڈی تھیسز کے لیے ایویلیویٹر/ ایگزامینر مقرر کیا جائے، اگر وہ کسی ادارے سے وابستہ ہیں۔ ہاؤس نے متعلقہ ہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کے رہنما خطوط کی روشنی میں فال سمسٹر 2023 سےہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کی گریجویٹ ایجوکیشن پالیسی 2023 کے اطلاق کی منظوری دی۔ ہاؤس نے ایم فل/ایم ایس اسکالرز کی نگرانی کے لیے کم از کم تین سال کے تدریسی یا تحقیقی تجربے کے حامل ایم فل/ایم ایس فیکلٹی ممبران کی منظوری دی۔ بورڈ نے کئی دیگر اہم پوسٹ گریجویٹ معاملات کی بھی منظوری دی جن میں سپروائزرز کی تبدیلیاں، ریسرچ/مقالہ کے عنوانات میں تبدیلیاں، شریک سپروائزرز کی تقرری اور ایم فل/پی ایچ ڈی سکالرز کے لیے مقررہ ڈگری کے ٹائم پریڈ میں توسیع شامل ہے۔ بورڈ نےہائر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کے آرٹیفیشل اینٹیلیجنس فریم ورک کو اپنانے اور تھیسس فیس کو معقول بنانے کے لیے پالیسی تجویز کرنے کے لیے مختلف کمیٹیاں بھی تشکیل دیں۔
