Open Defense of PhD scholar Muhammad Sumair Zahid of the Department of English Linguistics will be held on 3 June 2025

The Department of English Linguistics, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) is pleased to announce the public defence of PhD scholar, Muhammad Sumair Zahid, scheduled to be held on June 3, 2025, at 11:30 AM. He completed his research under the supervision of Dr. Riaz Hussain, Chairman, Department of English Linguistics, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed Akhter, Department of English, Riphah International University, Faisalabad, will serve as the external examiner. His dissertation presents a corpus-based comparison of research discourses by British and Pakistani researchers, focusing on aspects of frequency, structure, and function. Gleaning insights from this study in computational linguistics, the researcher also proposes instructional materials, including an eight-week teaching and assessment plan, aimed at enhancing the research writing skills of Pakistani budding researchers.
