The Institute of Agro Industry, the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, Islamia University of Bahawalpur hosted a Smog Awareness Walk, Seminar, and Poster Display to highlight the severe hazards of smog and promote eradication strategies. The event, organized recently, saw massive participation from students and faculty, demonstrating a strong institutional commitment to environmental health. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran emphasized the urgent need for collective action against air pollution. He said that the steps taken by the Punjab government to combat smog are commendable, including the provision of anti-smog vehicles, which has significantly reduced smog in cities. Modern equipment has been installed in major cities of Punjab for air quality index monitoring. In this regard, the Punjab government has installed two equipments in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for air quality monitoring of Bahawalpur, which have been installed in the Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus and Abbasia Campus. Key addresses were delivered by Prof. Dr. Tanvir Hussain Turabi Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment and Prof. Dr. Ghulam Hasan Abbasi Director of the Institute of Agro Industry who detailed the science behind smog formation and discussed sustainable solutions. The awareness walk followed the seminar spreading the message throughout the campus.Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Khalid Director of Public Relations Prof Dr Naveed Aslam Malghani also spoke and highlighted anti-smog measures taken by the Punjab Govenment including installation of air quality monitoring equipments and smog diffusing bowser vehicles. The event concluded with a display of student posters offering innovative and practical steps to combat atmospheric pollution.

انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ایگرو انڈسٹری فیکلٹی آف ایگریکلچر اینڈ انوائرمنٹ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور نے سموگ سے متعلق آگاہی واک سیمینار اور پوسٹر ڈسپلے کا انعقاد کیا تاکہ سموگ کے شدید خطرات کو اجاگر کیا جاسکے اور اس کے خاتمے کی حکمت عملیوں کو فروغ دیا جاسکے۔ حال ہی میں منعقد ہونے والے اس پروگرام میں طلباء اور فیکلٹی کی بڑی تعداد میں شرکت دیکھنے میں آئی جو ماحولیاتی صحت کے لیے ایک مضبوط ادارہ جاتی عزم کا ثبوت ہے۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے فضائی آلودگی کے خلاف اجتماعی کاوشوں کی فوری ضرورت پر زور دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ سموگ کے تدارک کے لیے حکومت پنجاب کے اقدامات قابل تحسین ہیں ان میں انٹی سموگ گاڑیوں کی فراہمی جس سے شہروں میں سموگ میں کافی حد تک کمی واقع ہوئی ہے۔ ائیر کوالٹی انڈکس مانیٹرنگ کے لیے پنجاب کے بڑے شہروں میں جدید آلات نصب کیے گئے ہیں۔ اس سلسلے میں حکومت پنجاب نے اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں بہاولپور کی ایئر کوالٹی مانیٹرنگ کے لیے دو آلات نصب کیے ہیں جو بغداد الجدید کیمپس اور عباسیہ کیمپس میں لگائے گئے ہیں۔ کلیدی خطابات زراعت اور ماحولیات کی فیکلٹی کے ڈین پروفیسر ڈاکٹر تنویر حسین ترابی اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر غلام حسن عباسی ڈائریکٹر انسٹی ٹیوٹ آف ایگرو انڈسٹری نے دیئے۔ سیمینار کے بعد آگاہی واک نے پورے کیمپس میں سموگ کے خطرات سے متعلق پیغام پھیلایا۔ ڈاکٹر شہزاد احمد خالد ڈائریکٹر پبلک ریلیشنز اور پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نوید اسلم ملغانی نے پنجاب حکومت کی طرف سے اٹھائے گئے سموگ کے تدارک کے اقدامات پر روشنی ڈالی جن میں ہوا کے معیار کی نگرانی کے آلات اور سموگ پھیلانے والی بوزر گاڑیوں کی تنصیب شامل ہے۔ تقریب کا اختتام طلباء کے پوسٹرز کی نمائش کے ساتھ ہوا جس میں ماحولیاتی آلودگی سے نمٹنے کے لیے اختراعی اور عملی اقدامات کی عکاسی کی گئی تھی۔
