International milestone: Springer Nature Showcases IUB Sustainability Project

As a major international milestone, the landmark Green Campus project of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been featured as a chapter in Springer Nature’s prestigious book Green Metrics in Higher Education: Measuring and Reporting Sustainability Initiatives in Higher Education Institutions. The book, edited by leading global experts in sustainability and higher education, showcases successful sustainability initiatives from universities around the world. The chapter titled “Implementing an Environmental Management System for Sustainability at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur” has been written by Dr. Abid Rashid Gill, Prof. Dr. Areeba Khan and Kashif Akram. This publication is particularly significant because Springer Nature is among the world’s most respected academic publishers and the inclusion of the work of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is making the university an active institution alongside international institutions at the international level. The book serves as an international platform for sharing best practices and innovative approaches for environmental management in higher education. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran said that this award highlights the growing reputation of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur as a leader in environmental sustainability among Pakistani universities. It also validates the university’s strategic vision to transform its campus into an environmentally responsible and resource-efficient learning environment. The Green Campus Project has become a model for integrating teaching, research, administration, and community sustainability. This achievement reflects the commitment of the faculty, researchers, students, and administration of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur to promote sustainable development and environmental responsibility. This publication is expected to further support the university’s efforts to enhance its international exposure, strengthen research collaboration, and emerge as a green and sustainable university in the region.

ایک اہم بین الاقوامی سنگ میل کے طور پر اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے اہم گرین کیمپس پروجیکٹ کو اسپرنگر نیچر کی ممتاز کتاب اعلیٰ تعلیم میں گرین میٹرک اعلیٰ تعلیمی اداروں میں پائیداری کے اقدامات کی پیمائش اور رپورٹنگ میں ایک باب کے طور پر نمایاں کیا گیا ہے۔ پائیداری اور اعلیٰ تعلیم کے معروف عالمی ماہرین کی طرف سے تدوین کردہ کتاب دنیا بھر کی یونیورسٹیوں سے پائیداری کے کامیاب اقدامات کو ظاہر کرتی ہے۔ اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی پائیداری کے لیے ماحولیات کے انتظام کے نظام کا نفاذ کے عنوان سے باب ڈاکٹر عابد رشید گل، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اریبہ خان اور کاشف اکرم نے لکھا ہے۔ یہ اشاعت خاص طور پر اس لیے اہم ہے کہ اسپرنگر نیچر دنیا کے سب سے زیادہ معتبر تعلیمی پبلشرز میں شامل ہے اور اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی  بہاولپور کے کام کی شمولیت اس یونیورسٹی کو بین الاقوامی سطح پر بین الاقوامی اداروں کے ساتھ ساتھ ایک فعال ادارہ بنا رہی ہے۔ یہ کتاب اعلیٰ تعلیم میں ماحولیاتی انتظام کے لیے بہترین طریقوں اور اختراعی طریقوں کو بانٹنے کے لیے ایک بین الاقوامی پلیٹ فارم کے طور پر کام کرتی ہے۔ وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے کہا ہے کہ یہ اعزاز اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی پاکستانی یونیورسٹیوں میں ماحولیاتی پائیداری میں ایک رہنما کے طور پر بڑھتی ہوئی ساکھ کو اجاگر کرتا ہے۔ یہ یونیورسٹی کے اپنے کیمپس کو ماحولیاتی طور پر ذمہ دار اور وسائل سے موثر سیکھنے کے ماحول میں تبدیل کرنے کے اسٹریٹجک وژن کی بھی توثیق کرتا ہے۔ گرین کیمپس پروجیکٹ تدریس، تحقیق، انتظامیہ، اور کمیونٹی کی  پائیداری کو مربوط کرنے کے لیے ایک ماڈل بن گیا ہے۔ یہ کامیابی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی فیکلٹی، محققین، طلباء اور انتظامیہ کی پائیدار ترقی اور ماحولیاتی ذمہ داری کو فروغ دینے کے عزم کی عکاسی کرتی ہے۔ اس اشاعت سے یونیورسٹی کی بین الاقوامی نمائش کو بڑھانے، تحقیقی تعاون کو مضبوط بنانے اور خطے میں ایک سرسبز اور پائیدار یونیورسٹی کے طور پر ابھرنے کے لیے اس کی کوششوں کی مزید حمایت کی توقع ہے۔
