About Us
The Department of Theriogenology is a specialized academic, clinical, and research unit dedicated to advancing veterinary reproductive sciences, reproductive health, fertility management, and assisted reproductive technologies. The Department plays a vital role in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program while providing advanced postgraduate education and professional training in the field of veterinary reproduction.
In addition to undergraduate teaching in DVM, the Department offers an M.Phil. in Theriogenology, providing postgraduate scholars with advanced knowledge and practical expertise in reproductive physiology, reproductive endocrinology, breeding management, artificial insemination, semen evaluation, ultrasonography, obstetrics, infertility diagnosis, and emerging assisted reproductive technologies.
The Department also offers a one-year Diploma in Artificial Insemination (AI) Technology, designed to develop professionally competent and technically skilled personnel capable of applying modern reproductive technologies in livestock production systems. This program contributes directly to genetic improvement, reproductive efficiency, productivity enhancement, and sustainable livestock development.
The Department is supported by a qualified and dedicated faculty comprising 01 Professor, 03 Assistant Professors, and 02 Lecturers, with expertise in veterinary reproductive medicine, biotechnology, artificial insemination, semen technology, ultrasonography, obstetrics, infertility management, embryo technologies, and assisted reproduction. Competent technical and non-teaching staff further support teaching, clinical services, laboratory work, animal handling, and research activities.
The Department integrates theoretical teaching, practical training, clinical exposure, laboratory learning, and research, with emphasis on modern reproductive technologies such as artificial insemination, semen technology, ultrasonography, pregnancy diagnosis, estrus synchronization, obstetrics, infertility management, and assisted reproduction. It aims to develop skilled veterinarians, reproductive technologists, and researchers capable of addressing modern challenges in animal reproduction and livestock production.
