About Us

Poultry industry of Pakistan is the second largest industry in the country which provides direct and indirect employment to millions of people. Poultry industry in Pakistan is growing at a greater pace and fulfilling its responsibility to provide quality sources of animal protein to the masses – at a time when food security, safety, and nutritional value of the food are of paramount importance. However, the industry is still deficient in skilled and trained manpower. The department of Poultry Science – established in the year 2020 in the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, IUB – is committed to provide quality learning in the field of poultry science and technology and its support services. The department undertakes industry orientated teaching, training and research, extension programmes, consultancy, and provides employable skills to the youth aiming to contribute to the development of the nation. Currently, Department offers BS Poultry Science and M.Phil. Poultry Science programs to educate and train the youth of the region and Pakistan. The poultry research farm and well-equipped laboratories are an integral part of our programs and a key to our interaction with the poultry industry of the country. We aim to graduate students who will have an eye on tomorrow’s global food security problems and will lead the nation and the world in finding sustainable solutions. We, the faculty and staff of the department, are continuously putting our efforts to make the learning challenging, curiosity-driven and result-oriented, with the ultimate aim to make the department the "First Choice in its Class" on national as well as global basis.
