About Us

The Department of Pathology is integral component of medical and veterinary sciences, by providing link between basic biological sciences and clinical medicine. The department is actively involved in teaching and training students of DVM and postgraduate programs, as well as students from allied health sciences. Through its comprehensive academic and practical activities, the department provides students with an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms, causes, development and diagnosis of diseases affecting animals and humans.

The department offers advanced education through its M.Phil. Pathology program, with a strong emphasis on research, diagnostic pathology, and modern laboratory techniques. The department also provides hands-on practical training in important diagnostic techniques such as hematology, clinical biochemistry, cytology, histopathology, ELISA, PCR, and other molecular diagnostic assays.

The Central Diagnostic Laboratory Complex (CDLC) provides an important platform for practical training, disease diagnosis, research, and community-oriented diagnostic services for livestock, poultry, wildlife, and food-animal health. The department is also actively engaged in research on emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases, poultry and livestock diseases, molecular epidemiology, diagnostic assay development, and molecular pathology.

Through conceptual teaching, modern laboratory facilities, problem-based learning, research-oriented training, and practical diagnostic experience, the Department of Pathology aims to develop competent pathologists, researchers, laboratory scientists, and diagnosticians. The ultimate goal is to equip students with the knowledge and technical skills required for early disease detection, accurate diagnosis, disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, research, and effective disease control, preparing them for diverse career opportunities in veterinary medicine, animal health, biomedical research, diagnostic laboratories, public health, academia, and allied health sciences.
