A "Suggestions and Recommendations" discussion was held at IUB to talk about the upcoming federal budget.

A discussion was organized on the upcoming fiscal budget of the federal government under the title of “Suggestions and Recommendations” by the Department of Economics, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The participants said that Pakistan’s economic recovery is possible through business confidence and reduction in production costs, promotion of exports and encouragement of investment in the private sector. Sustainable increase in government revenue is not possible only by collecting taxes from existing taxpayers but also through a balanced, business-friendly and transparent tax policy that depends on industrial development, increased employment opportunities, maximum exports and long-term economic stability of the country. President Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Syed Zafar Sharif, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, President Private Colleges Association Faisal Nadeem, Social Leader Amber Tansir, Director Financial Assistants Prof. Dr. Areeba Khan, Chairman Department of Economics Dr. Muhammad Atif Nawaz, Chairman Department of Public Administration Dr. Shahbaz Ali Khan, Director Public Relations Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Khalid, Secretary Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Syed Abir Haider, Chairman Department of Islamic and Conventional Banking Dr. Owais Shafiq, Social Media Activist Waseem Iqbal and others addressed the discussion. The government was facing a huge budget deficit due to the decline in tax collection, due to which the government is imposing heavy taxes on petroleum products to increase revenue. Due to rising inflation in the country, the agriculture sector is also being affected, due to which farmers are getting fertilizers, agricultural chemicals and expensive electricity at high prices. International companies are closing down their businesses in the country due to business taxes. On this occasion, a demand was made that the country is currently in a state of war, while the industry should be provided with uninterrupted power supply and loans on easy terms for small businesses. The government should also keep the expenditure in line with the income. Special attention needs to be paid to the education sector and the government grant to higher educational institutions, including the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, is stagnant at the level of 2018, which needs to be increased. The participants also stressed on the implementation of the digital economy and digital tax system for transparency and financial stability.

شعبہ معاشیات اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور اور بہاولپور چیمبرآف کامرس اینڈ انڈسٹری کے اشتراک سے وفاقی حکومت کے آئندہ مالیاتی بجٹ پر تجاویر اور سفارشات کے عنوان سے ایک مباحثے کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔ شرکاء کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستان کی معاشی بحالی کاروباری شعبے کے اعتماد اور پیداواری لاگت میں کمی، برآمدات کے فروغ اور نجی شعبے میں سرمایہ کاری کی حوصلہ افزائی سے ممکن ہے۔حکومتی آمدنی میں پائیدار اضافہ صرف موجودہ ٹیکس گزاروں سے ٹیکس وصولی سے ممکن نہیں بلکہ ایک متوازن کاروبار دوست شفاف ٹیکس پالیسی سے ممکن ہے جو صنعتی ترقی روزگار کے مواقعوں میں اضافے، زیادہ سے زیادہ برآمدات اور ملک کے طویل مدتی معاشی استحکام پر منحصر ہے۔ صدر بہاولپور چیمبر آف کامرس اینڈ انڈسٹری سید ظفر شریف، ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز پروفیسر ڈاکٹرروبینہ بھٹی، صدر پرائیویٹ کالجز ایسوسی ایشن فیصل ندیم، سماجی رہنما امبر تنصیر، ڈائریکٹر فنانشل اسسٹنٹس پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اریبہ خان، چیئرمین شعبہ اکنامکس ڈاکٹر محمد عاطف نواز ،چیئرمین شعبہ پبلک ایڈمنسٹریشن ڈاکٹر شہباز علی خان، ڈائریکٹر پبلک ریلیشنز ڈاکٹر شہزاد احمد خالد، سیکرٹری بہاولپور چیمبرآف کامرس اینڈ انڈسٹری سید عبیر حیدر، چیئرمین شعبہ اسلامک اینڈ کنونشنل بینکنگ ڈاکٹر اویس شفیق، سوشل میڈیا ایکٹیوسٹ وسیم اقبال اور دیگر نے خطاب کیا۔ مباحثے میں ٹیکس وصولی میں کمی کی وجہ سے حکومت کو بڑے بجٹ خسارے کی نشاندہی کی گئی جس کی وجہ سے حکومت آمدنی میں اضافے کے لئے پٹرولیم مصنوعات پر بھاری ٹیکس عائد کر رہی ہے۔ ملک میں بڑھتی مہنگائی کی وجہ سے زراعت کا شعبہ بھی متاثر ہو رہا ہے جس وجہ سے کسان کو مہنگے داموں کھاد ، زرعی ادویات اور مہنگی بجلی مل رہی ہے۔ کاروباری ٹیکس کی وجہ سے بین الاقوامی کمپنیاں ملک میں کاروبار بند کررہی ہیں۔ اس موقع پر یہ مطالبہ سامنے آیا کہ ملک اس وقت جنگی حالات میں ہے جبکہ انڈسٹری کو بلاتعطل بجلی کی فراہمی چھوٹے کاروبار کےلیے آسان شرائط پر قرضے فراہم کیے جائیں ۔ حکومت کو اخراجات بھی آمدنی کے مطابق رکھنے چاہیئے۔ ایجوکیشن سیکٹر پر خاص طور پور توجہ دینے کی ضرورت ہے اور اعلیٰ تعلیمی اداروں بشمول اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کی حکومتی گرانٹ 2018 کی سطح پر جمود کا شکار ہے جس میں اضافہ ناگزیر ہے۔ شرکاء نے شفافیت اور مالیاتی استحکام کے لئے ڈیجیٹل اکانومی اور ڈیجیٹل ٹیکس سسٹم کے نفاذ پر بھی زور دیا۔
