A one-day seminar titled “Intellectual Inspirings of Manto and Majeed Amjad” was organized by the Department of Urdu and Iqbaliat, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur at Ghotvi Hall, Abbasia Campus. This academic and literary session was organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Saadat Hasan Manto and the death anniversary of Majeed Amjad, in which a large number of teachers, students, officers and other distinguished guests participated. The seminar was presided over by Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr. Rubina Bhatti, while the guest speakers included Dr. Tahir Abbas, Dr. Imran Azfar, Dr. Ilyas Kabir, Dr. Mehboob Tabish, Dr. Khurram Shahzad and Dr. Jam Abid. In their speeches, the speakers discussed the intellectual aspects of Saadat Hasan Manto and Majeed Amjad, contemporary consciousness, human psychology and social attitudes. Highlighting the intellectual connection, philanthropy and social awareness present in the works of both writers, they said that Manto and Majeed Amjad are such representative creators of Urdu literature who presented social truths with boldness and artistic skill. Professor Dr. Syed Aamir Sohail, while delivering the keynote address at the seminar, shed comprehensive light on the intellectual and literary connections of Manto and Majeed Amjad. He said that both personalities were the most sensitive creators of their era whose writings contain a deep understanding of human inner life and social contradictions. The function was conducted by Dr. Wasif Iqbal Siddiqui, while the concluding remarks were presented by Professor Dr. Liaquat Ali. Finally, in her presidential address, Professor Dr. Rubina Bhatti termed the organization of the seminar as an important academic endeavor of the Department of Urdu and Iqbaliat Studies and said that such events play an important role in connecting the new generation with the intellectual and cultural tradition of literature. At the end of the seminar, the participants expressed the hope that similar academic and intellectual sessions on great figures of Urdu literature will continue to be held in the future.

شعبۂ اردو و اقبالیات، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے زیرِ اہتمام عباسیہ کیمپس، گھوٹوی ہال میں ایک روزہ سیمینار بعنوان منٹو اور مجید امجد کے فکری انسلاکات منعقد ہوا۔ یہ علمی و ادبی نشست سعادت حسن منٹو کے یومِ پیدائش اور مجید امجد کے یومِ وفات کی مناسبت سے منعقد کی گئی، جس میں اساتذہ، طلبہ، افسران اور دیگر مہمانانِ گرامی نے کثیر تعداد میں شرکت کی۔سیمینار کی صدارت ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز  پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے کی، جبکہ مہمان مقررین میں ڈاکٹر طاہر عباس، ڈاکٹر عمران اظفر، ڈاکٹر الیاس کبیر، ڈاکٹر محبوب تابش، ڈاکٹر خرم شہزاد اور ڈاکٹر جام عابد شامل تھے۔ مقررین نے اپنے خطابات میں سعادت حسن منٹو اور مجید امجد کی فکری جہات، عصری شعور، انسانی نفسیات اور معاشرتی رویّوں پر مدلل گفتگو کی۔ انہوں نے دونوں ادیبوں کی تخلیقات میں موجود فکری ربط، انسان دوستی اور سماجی آگہی کو اُجاگر کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ منٹو اور مجید امجد اردو ادب کے ایسے نمائندہ تخلیق کار ہیں جنہوں نے معاشرتی سچائیوں کو بے باکی اور فنی مہارت کے ساتھ پیش کیا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر سید عامر سہیل نے سیمینار میں کلیدی گفتگو کرتے ہوئے منٹو اور مجید امجد کے فکری و ادبی انسلاکات پر جامع روشنی ڈالی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ دونوں شخصیات اپنے عہد کے حساس ترین تخلیق کار تھے جن کی تحریروں میں انسانی باطن اور سماجی تضادات کی گہری تفہیم موجود ہے۔ تقریب کی نظامت کے فرائض ڈاکٹر واصف اقبال صدیقی نے انجام دیے، جبکہ اختتامی کلمات پروفیسر ڈاکٹر لیاقت علی نے پیش کیے۔ آخر میں  پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی نے اپنے صدارتی خطاب میں سیمینار کے انعقاد کو شعبۂ اردو و اقبالیات کی ایک اہم علمی کاوش قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ ایسی تقریبات نئی نسل کو ادب کی فکری اور تہذیبی روایت سے جوڑنے میں اہم کردار ادا کرتی ہیں۔ سیمینار کے اختتام پر شرکاء نے اس امید کا اظہار کیا کہ مستقبل میں بھی اردو ادب کی عظیم شخصیات پر اسی نوعیت کی علمی و فکری نشستوں کا انعقاد جاری رکھا جائے گا۔
