Bahawalpur (                        ):  Prof Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that very soon a new course of study will be launched at the level of diploma, degree and master’s level in the perspective of human rights and civic education besides organizing a national conference on the topic of the human rights with the co-operation of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. He was addressing the audience of an exclusive seminar organized jointly by Fazaldad Institute of Human Rights (FDIHR) and Higher Education Commission on the topic of youth’s role and responsibilities regarding human rights at Faculty of Arts Auditorium Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus. The guest speaker was Mr. Naeem Sarfaraz Chairman FDIHR who delivered an extensive lecture on the topic. A large number of faculty members and teachers were present on the occasion. Mr. Naeem Sarfaraz in his extensive lecture mentioned that the world has been transformed into a global village and violation of human rights in any part of world is highlighted in the media instantaneously. He further said that the central focus of the teachings of all Prophets (Peace Be Upon Them) was the propagation of human rights and the last sermon of the Holy Prophet (SAW) on the occasion of Hujjatul Wida is a glowing example of the same in which the Holy Prophet (SAW) declared all human beings equal in status without any discrimination of race, creed and color. In the teachings of the Holy Quran the human rights have been given preference upon the rights of Allah. Similarly, the rights and responsibilities and inheritance rights of children and women have also been explained in detail. The constitution of Pakistan also provides guarantee to human rights. Hence we must observe our social, political and economic situation in the light of human rights, because the significance of human rights, individual or collective is imperative. He put emphasis on the students to become the flag-bearers of human rights in the society and play an active role in the framing of a peaceful and exemplary society based on mutual harmony and integrity besides acknowledging the importance of difference of opinion to act as a responsible citizen.
On this occasion Dean Faculty of Arts, Prof. Dr. Najeeb Jamal extended vote of thanks to the distinguished guest for his exclusive lecture and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for its special co-operation in organizing the seminar.
