Seventh Cholistan Jeep Rally organized by Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar at Noor Mahal last evening, who was the chief guest of the occasion. Members National Assembly Chaudhary Saud Majeed and Engineer Baleegh-ur-Rehman were the guests of honors. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar formally declared the three days celebrations of Cholistan Jeep Rally open and said that it is a momentous occasion to show the beauty and elegance of Cholistan to the world and get them acquainted with the land of peace, love and elegance. He appreciated the TDCP Managing Director Saad Sikandar Khan and Chaudhary Mehmoood Majeed for their untiring efforts for making this rally possible. The Vice Chancellor termed the participating drivers as “drivers athletes”. He further said that future belonged to the youth and this great country can be made attractive for the tourists, which has seven out of eleven climatic zones, the vast Cholistan desert is the seventh largest desert, owing to its diversified history culture, flora and fauna. Managing Director TDCP Saad Sikandar Khan gave the details of the rally arrangements and said that Bahawalpur region will be turned into a popular tourist resort and in this regard a tourist school will also be established with the collaboration of the IUB. He extended gratitude of Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Bahawalpur Garrison, Punjab Police and Houbara Foundation. On this occasion, Regional Police Officer Capt. (R) Abid Qadri, President BCCI, Muzamil-ur-Rasheed Abbasi, Maj. (R) Muhammad Tahir of Houbara Foundation, dignitaries and participating driver athletes of the rally were also present. The students of Media Studies Department, IUB presented skits and musical items in the event.
