Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that Bahawalpur region boasted of such literary figures of various languages , who could not get the patronage and promotion at any level. Hence a programme is being initiated, and in the light of this initiative a directory of writers, poets and intellectuals of Bahawalpur will be compiled and literary meetings will be held in their honour to highlight their literary feats. The Vice Chancellor was addressing a special meeting of heads of departments at Abbasia Campus last evening. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar also added that under this initiative these personalities will be recognized for their contribution in literature, poetry and other arts. They will be recommended to provincial and federal governments for grant of rewards, so that the intellectuals belonging to Bahawalpur may also be conferred public awards. Hence in this regard authors of Bahawalpur are requested to send three copies of their published books along with their bio-data and contact number to Public Relations Office, Abbasia Campus, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur addressed to Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ahmed or Shahzad Ahmed Khalid till 14th August, 2012 for commencement of this pleasant duty.
