Vice Chancellor, the
Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad
Mukhtar said while addressing Principal Engineering
College, Jan Muhammad Keerio, faculty members and thousands
of students that he wants to improve the status of University
Engineering College into a full fledged university within
a period of two years. Engineering University is a dire
need of not only Bahawalpur but of Southern Punjab as
a whole. He expressed his hope that soon this college
will develop into an international level Engineering
University. He advised to initiate programs including
Civil Engineering, Textile Engineering and other departments
in Engineering College to facilitate the students by
providing them quality engineering education in their
area. The Vice Chancellor, while addressing the students,
advised them to demonstrate discipline and direct their
efforts towards their education. He said that we shall
feel pride in being Pakistani instead of being called
Punjabi, Saraiki or Sindhi. The Vice Chancellor was
warmly welcomed by the students of Engineering College.
Later, Vice Chancellor also headed the faculty meeting
at Principal Office and discussed professional matters
and academic activities.
Vice Chancellor also visited University College of Arts
and Design and presided faculty meeting there. He advised
teaching faculty to manage and promote traditional heritage
and culture. He gave instructions to start special courses
for home décor in order to introduce this art
in this area. He suggested to design a website to exhibit
the work of College of Arts and Design. He stressed
the need of holding more and more exhibitions and workshops
to encourage the creativity of students and teachers.
The Vice Chancellor viewed paintings made by students
and teachers and also exchanged his views with students.
