Bahawalpur (                              ): Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that the IUB’s distance education system employs latest technology and fulfills the higher education requirements of the students of the Southern Punjab in particular and other areas in general. He was addressing the newly admitted students of the Institute of Distance Learning on the occasion of the commencement of classes. He said that at present modern communication means have converted world into a global village and hence the distance education is getting more popularity than the conventional method of education. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar said that he is determined to make Bahawalpur a model education city in accordance with its past reputation to establish quality institutes imparting education in all disciplines. It is also his earnest desire to attract the local and outstation students to Bahawalpur for seeking education. In this regard IUB has been taking various measures which include the setup of Rangers Campus, Distance Education and Special Week-end Programme. In all these programmes about 2000 additional students have got the opportunity to seek education of under graduate, Master and M.Phil level in 13 various disciplines. The Vice Chancellor welcomed the students and assured them that the university faculty and management are always there for their guidance and they will also avail every kind of facility and services as regular students do. Chairman Admission Committee and Dean Arts Prof. Dr. Najeb Jamal, Dean Education Prof. Dr. Karamat Mehmood, and Deputy Director Institute of Distance Learning Dr. Irshad Hussain also spoke on the occasion and provided guidance about the rules and regulations of IUB, the teaching methodology of distance education and other matters relating to their studies.
